The Heartbreak Prescription (by Glazed Snow) novel Chapter 1190

Noelle went silent on the other end of the line. She didn't expect Roger to call her out so bluntly, let alone embarrass her in front of everyone.

The sob in her voice faltered as she rushed to defend herself. "Mr. Quinn, I don't understand what you mean. I was only trying to help."

"Help?" Roger gave a cold laugh. "You gave Edric a cropped photo and told him to show it today, while half the city's most influential families were gathered at my birthday party. Explain to me how that was supposed to help anyone."

The guests nearby had gone quiet. They hadn't been able to hear much of the call before, but Roger made no effort to lower his voice now. Every word carried across the ballroom.

The room fell silent as people turned to look at Edric. By then, everyone understood that Noelle, the woman on the other end of the line, was behind the entire stunt.

Panic crept into Noelle's voice. "Mr. Quinn, the photo looked like that when I got it. How was I supposed to know it had been cropped? I was only worried that Ivy…"

"That's enough!"

Roger cut her off, his expression hardening.

"Anyone who knew what to look for could tell that photo had been altered. You're still young, but you're already so calculating. I know exactly what you were trying to do.

"You cared more about getting what you wanted than the damage it could do to the Quinn family and the reputation we've spent decades building. What you did was deliberate and cruel."

Roger's words rang through the ballroom, stripping away every excuse Noelle had tried to hide behind.

For a long moment, there was no response from the other end of the line. Only the faint sound of her unsteady breathing came through the phone.

Noelle was left speechless, with no excuse left to offer.
