Nathan stepped closer. Ivy couldn't help backing up, already keenly aware of the chill radiating off him.
Even though his face showed no emotion, the coldness around him was still suffocating.
Ivy felt guilty, but she was more frightened and panicked.
Nathan had arrived long ago. Had he heard everything?
"I…" Ivy started.
Seeing the evasiveness in her eyes, Nathan curled his lips into a cold smile. "Why aren't you talking now? Don't you have anything you want to say to me?"
Ivy backed up until she hit the edge of the desk and couldn't retreat any farther.
She could only ask again, "You got here a while ago, didn't you? And you heard everything Kate and I said?"
Nathan stopped in front of her. His tall frame cast a shadow over her. "This is when you answer my questions. Let me ask you: Do you have anything you want to say to me?"
The barely restrained anger in his eyes made it instantly clear. He had heard it all.
Since he already knew, there was no point in hiding it anymore. The pregnancy would come out sooner or later, anyway.
Ivy took a deep breath and looked at him. "Nathan, I'm pregnant."
When Nathan heard her admit it out loud, his face darkened immediately.
"You did this on purpose, didn't you? Every time I wanted to use protection, you said it was safe and that you wouldn't get pregnant. You lied to me!"
Her mind raced. Right now, she desperately needed the status of Mrs. Lowe.
But if Nathan insisted on divorcing her, she wasn't completely afraid of that either.
After all, the child she carried bore the bloodline of the Lowe family. This was the very first bloodline of the entire Lowe Group empire.
Between Nathan and the child, she would choose the child without hesitation.
Her lashes trembled. "I'm really sorry, Nathan. I know you're angry. You can do whatever you want, but I have to keep this baby."
Nathan looked at the unnervingly calm woman in front of him and felt his teeth grind with hatred. "You know I never wanted kids."
