The Heartbreak Prescription (by Glazed Snow) novel Chapter 1010

Chapter 1010

Martin was in no rush, but Shaun definitely was.

And not just a little-he was seriously anxious.

Shaun said, “Look, this situation’s kinda unusual. Your girlfriend is out meeting another guy. Don’t you care she might end up falling for him instead?”

Martin smiled a little. “Let me guess-you sent Ms. Mallin a text and she didn’t reply, is that right?”

Shaun didn’t say anything.

Martin was very smart and a capable assistant. But right now, Shaun wouldn’t have minded if he were a bit more clueless.

Martin continued, “If you really miss Ms. Mallin, you could always call her. That’s better than sitting here overthinking

everything.”

Shaun figured this had to be what love felt like-it made people nervous, made them spiral with all kinds of crazy thoughts.

Shaun ordered, “Cancel everything on my schedule this afternoon.”

Martin blinked. “What are you planning to do?”

Shaun smiled. He had a plan.

Meanwhile, at Anteoch University, Halsey had been running around nonstop since she got there-handling paperwork, visiting the dean’s office, and settling into her classroom.

She was starting a course in fashion design, and soon met a few other girls in the same program. They hit it off right away, chatting like they had known each other for ages.

By the time lunch rolled around, one of the girls grabbed her hand. “It’s lunchtime! It’s your first day here, so we’re taking you

to the cafeteria!”

Halsey was genuinely grateful. “Thanks. That sounds great!”

They walked into the cafeteria, and just as Halsey took out her phone, she saw a text from Shaun. She was about to reply when

she heard a familiar voice.

Looking up, she saw Calvin walking over.

“Hey, Halsey,” Calvin said with a warm smile. “So glad you made it to Anteoch on time! Sorry, I couldn’t greet you earlier. I had class this morning and couldn’t get away. Now that I’m free, is there anything you need help with?”

Halsey smiled back. “Calvin-well, I guess I should call you Professor Johnson now. You’ve already helped me a ton. I managed to handle the paperwork on my own, and I’ve made a few friends in the fashion design program. We really hit it off.”

The girls around her giggled and greeted him politely. “Hi, Professor Johnson.”

Calvin nodded. “Nice to meet you all.” Then he turned back to Halsey. “Let’s go out for lunch. My treat.”

Halsey politely declined. “Thanks, but the cafeteria food actually looks pretty good. I’ll just eat here.”

Calvin didn’t push. “Alright, then. But dinner’s on me tonight.”

Halsey started to object. “I-”

Calvin cut in, “You’re not allowed to say no to dinner.”

She paused. He really had gone out of his way to help her lately. It didn’t feel right to keep turning him down.

“Alright. Dinner sounds good, but I’m buying. You’ve done so much for me–I owe you that at least.”
