"What's with that expression? Am I treating you too harshly?" I asked.

"No." Yolanda sniffed and tried to stay calm.

"I don't think I've asked you to marry anyone," I continued.

"You haven't." Yolanda knew I was telling her not to overthink things. But she just really didn't want to marry someone she hadn't even met before.

She bit her lip and begged me, "Cole, I really don't want to marry anyone. I'm begging you, don't make me marry someone I don't know."

Yolanda looked like she was going to cry again, "Please, if you force that on me too, then I might as well just die."

I looked at the tears in her eyes and sighed. "Get up. I didn't say I'd force you to marry anyone."

Even if I was poor and destitute, I wouldn't trade a woman for resources.

"Just go back to your university for now. You can intern in my company too," I said.

My company had been short-staffed, and Yolanda seemed smart enough. She would probably be a good addition.

"Alright, I'll go right now," Yolanda said in surprise. She had thought that I would kick her out.

"There's no need. Rest for a day first. You can start tomorrow," I said.

I exchanged glances with Lorraine, who had just come downstairs, before heading to the company.

Yolanda stood stiffly in place, unsure of how to address Lorraine.

"You can call me Lorraine. I'm not much older than you anyway," Lorraine said.

Yolanda was taken aback for a moment before she called out, "Lorraine."

Back home, she had always listened to Chris badmouthing Lorraine and me, so she thought the two of us were cruel and heartless. Now, it seemed like we were not like that at all. We were even willing to accept an illegitimate child like her.

"Cole might act all rough, but he's actually quite soft-hearted. Don't worry, he won't force you to do anything you don't want to do," Lorraine reassured Yolanda.

Just as Lorraine was thinking about how to console Yolanda, the sound of a door opening interrupted her thoughts.

Jonas peeked in curiously. "Daddy said my aunt is here. Is that her?"

Yolanda looked at Lorraine in surprise. She was shocked that I introduced her to my family.

It was only then that Lorraine remembered that Jonas was at home. "This is your aunt."

After he introduced himself, he took out his favorite toy from behind his back. "This is for you."

"For me?" Yolanda asked in surprise.

Jonas nodded. "Yes, Daddy said you might feel scared since it's your first day here, so I'm giving this to you."
