The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 324

I no longer wanted to waste more time there.

I instructed Murphy to send the reporters off before leaving.

I had just taken a few steps when Yvonne shrieked. Her entire body was trembling, and she was on the brink of losing it.

Her face showed a mixture of fury and disappointment. She yelled into the phone hysterically, "What the hell is going on? Is that child yours?"

She had divorced me to marry Jared. She almost brought down her company all because of Jared. Was this how Jared repaid her?

Who on earth did that child belong to?

Yvonne was eager for his explanation, yet all she got in return was silence. She held the phone tightly and barked, "What's going on? Answer me."

My iciness started to melt a little watching her go hysterical. I remembered how happy she looked when she divorced me. In less than a year, her happiness had left her.

I felt a little emotional, but I had no more feelings for her. I was about to leave when Xavier grabbed my hand. "Help Mommy."

He was young, but he could see that everyone was mocking her. He knew how arrogant and proud Yvonne was. How could she take their mockery?

I looked at Yvonne. "No, it's inappropriate."

I was the one who made her end up this way. I would look like a fool if I went over and consoled her.

"Daddy, I'm begging you. Please help Mommy," Xavier cried while tugging on my hand. I didn't want Xavier to be upset.

The incident between Yvonne and Jared was a joke, but Xavier would surely be pulled into their affairs as well. I didn't want Xavier to be bullied by them. I gently patted Xavier on his shoulders, trying to calm him down.

"Cole, why? Why did you tell me this?" She glared at me resentfully. If she did not know about it, she would not be in so much pain.

I wanted to take her into the office to hide her from the reporters for a while, but that idea completely vanished. Not only did she not thank me, but she even blamed it on me. No wonder Jared could keep on lying to her.

"You have only yourself to blame for being so gullible."

Only she would give him money, obey him, and trust him unconditionally. She was a rare breed, indeed.

I looked at her coldly, bent down, and patted her on the cheek. "It's women like you who are easiest to lie to."

I was about to get up when Xavier knelt in front of me. "Don't go, Daddy. Don't go. I'm begging you! I'm begging you!"
