"Call him and you'll find out for yourself." I handed Yvonne my phone.
She gulped. The phone slipped from her hand to the ground.
"Look at you. What are you getting so worked up for?" I picked the phone up and dusted it off before handing it back to her. "Ask your husband if he's with another woman."
Based on the child in the photos, Jared must have been with that woman for at least two to three years.
I looked at Yvonne, who had fallen into a daze, and pretended to console her, "Don't worry. I've checked. They aren't married. You're still his legitimate wife."
I had dropped a bomb on her.
The reporters never expected that a press conference for the opening of a new company would generate this much drama. They immediately picked up their recording devices.
"This must be his illegitimate son. Who would have thought that Jared Lawson has a woman and a son on the side?"
"Look at how careful they are. They clearly don't want anyone to find out. Isn't Cole Joplin a little too mean?"
The reporters discussed it among themselves. One of them even started livestreaming the entire incident.
Many of Jared's fans started commenting on his social media. A lot of them bashed him for his affair.
"Who on earth said that Jared was a good man? He's a cheater."
"He ruined another couple's marriage just for his own gain. How terrible."
"I heard from somewhere that Jared was the one who broke them up. If that's the case, I must have been blind to have ever liked someone like him."
"Am I the only one who thinks that his acting is really mediocre?"
Yvonne's hand was trembling when she dialed the number. Hearing the comments all around her, she started sweating profusely.
Murphy handed me his phone, and I saw what the people online had written. My expression turned grim.
What on earth made them think that I loved Yvonne very much? Could they not see how grim my expression was?
"Has Lorraine seen these comments too?" I asked Murphy subconsciously.
It would be pointless to explain myself at that moment, but I was also worried that Lorraine would feel uncomfortable reading these comments.
"She says she understands and hopes that you won't take the comments to heart."
She understood?
I turned my head and looked through the glass doors though I couldn't see her inside.
