The Heart Left Behind (Cole and Yvonne) novel Chapter 311

I placed Lorraine behind me and looked at Henry with caution.

"Whether another person believes it or not has nothing to do with you." I pushed Henry away, yet he held onto the doorknob tightly, not letting it go.

"Your brother has made a mistake in the company. No matter what, you were the one who brought Joplin Group back from the dead back then. I'm sure you won't wish to see the company go down just like that, right?"

Since Henry could not convince Mom to return, he turned to me to try to get me to help. I looked at him aloofly as if I were looking at a stranger.

"Do you know who you're talking to? Even if you want help, you shouldn't come to me."

I told Lorraine to take Mom back. If she were to stay there, she might go soft and change her mind. She had made up her mind to leave Henry. I was not going to let him trick her into getting back.

The crowd watching us was getting bigger. I cleared my throat and yelled at them, "If you like my father so much, why don't you adopt him as your father?"

They were embarrassed as they knew they were in the wrong for being nosy. The crowd quickly dispersed. I looked at them running off and sneered before turning around to look at Henry.

"See? Even the crowd isn't interested in you. Are you sure you want to continue staying here?" I said mockingly.

Henry was so furious he was trembling.

"Do you have to say such hurtful things?" he questioned grimly, trembling in fury.

I looked away.

After a long time, he said, "So, there's no room for discussion?"

I looked back at him seriously. "If Joplin Group is being given away for free, maybe I'll consider it."

"Okay, I'll handle this. Why don't you head to the room?"

I sat down next to Mom, looking helplessly at her. Once she stopped sobbing, I asked, "Are you upset that he's not giving you any inheritance or that he isn't here to take you back?"

I knew that she still had feelings for Henry. If she had not been forced to, she would not have left him.

"Mom, I came to take you away the other day because I knew you wouldn't dare to be so heartless. I knew that if I was there, you'd surely follow me."

I selfishly hoped that she would be able to move on from Henry as soon as possible.

"I'm your son. I won't ask you to get a divorce, but what's so good about a man like him?" Not only was he incapable, but his personal life was also a mess.

"Who knows? It's very likely that the moment you left, he had already gotten the other woman to move in with him. Why do you still have feelings for a man like that?"
