"Of course, he wouldn't have agreed," Mom said.
My thoughts were focused on Lorraine nowadays. Even if Yvonne wanted to get back together, it meant nothing to me.
"You should've thought about this when you broke up back then," Mom continued.
It was already too late for Yvonne to regret it. The children weren't particularly close to her either.
Mom glanced at Xavier and sighed. She couldn't help but worry about Xavier's future. Judging by how Yvonne was acting, she didn't seem to have a lot of maternal love for Xavier.
Xavier still had some use to her for now, but what would happen when he was no longer useful?
Mom was a bit worried. It was obvious Xavier had never considered all of that before.
Xavier looked at me by the door. He hesitated for a moment before he asked, "Daddy, is she okay?"
Even someone as spoiled as Xavier knew what to say at a time like this. When I heard his voice, I couldn't help but tremble. "She'll be fine."
I wouldn't let anything happen to her. Absolutely not.
My gaze fell on Xavier's head as I said softly, "Xavier, didn't I tell you to go back to the hospital ward?"
There was no way I would let Yvonne off easily after the results were out. I didn't want Xavier to see his parents fighting with each other.
Jonas would need to go too.
Xavier shook his head and said seriously, "I'm not leaving. I want to stay here with you."
I was surprised at how thoughtful Xavier suddenly seemed.
She patted Yvonne on the shoulder. "Don't worry. Cole won't go back on his word once he has promised something."
Yvonne stayed silent after he heard that.
Meanwhile, Jonas was leaning against the door and muttering something in earnest.
After half an hour, the doors finally opened. The doctor and nurses stepped out and immediately reprimanded us, "Are you the patient's family?"
"She's my wife," I said as I anxiously tried to look inside.
"Don't bother looking. Honestly, how are you even her husband? Didn't you even notice that your wife is pregnant? Thankfully, she was brought here in time. Otherwise—" the doctor said.
I interrupted him, "What did you just say? She's pregnant?"
