Xavier's voice was clear and strong. He looked up at me with an expression of disdain.
"Everyone likes me, but he's the only one lecturing me. He's not even that much older than me, so what gives him the right to do that?" The more he spoke, the more agitated he was. He even leaped off the couch and stood in front of me.
"I knew you'd protect him. I won't apologize. Since you hit me because of him, I'll bully him even more," he said.
Xavier was looking like a child who was throwing a tantrum at that point. He was acting out in a manner similar to a five or six-year-old.
Yvonne was caught off guard as she stood by the side. She had planned on having Xavier give a proper apology, but his temper flared instead.
She grabbed Xavier's arm and pulled him behind her with a helpless look on her face. She tried to dismiss this matter as the tantrums of a child. "Cole, both of them are your children. Xavier already knows that he was wrong. Do you really need to send him to juvenile detention?"
As she pleaded on Xavier's behalf, she started to shift the blame onto me. "As their father, you've always been by Jonas' side, but Xavier has grown up without that important figure with him. How did you think he'd turn out? Cole, as parents, it's our responsibility to guide our children."
I cut her off, "What's the point of telling me all this right now? Would this have happened if you had just done your job and raised him right? Do you even know that Jonas is running a high fever right now? You're his mother. Don't you feel the slightest worry for him?"
How could anyone be so cold-hearted?
"You clearly know that Jonas depends on you too, yet you never visit him. Are you worried that Xavier won't be happy about it and will stop making money for you?" I asked.
Recently, a friend mentioned to me that Xavier was the popular choice for a lot of brands in the entertainment industry. With his image as a young genius, anything he promoted would be able to gain traction.
I just wondered how those parents would react if they knew about Xavier bullying his own brother.
If I went out at that moment, they would definitely be photographed.
"Cole, are you trying to completely ruin Xavier? There are reporters out there right now. You'd just be a moving target." Yvonne knew that she couldn't reason with me, so she used Xavier's future instead.
"I get that you don't want him in the entertainment industry, but just think about it. Xavier's life will be finished the moment rumors about him bullying his brother are confirmed. He'll have to live with that hanging over him the rest of his life," Yvonne pleaded.
Her face turned pale. She could not let any negative rumors touch Xavier.
She continued, "You'll turn his life into a living hell."
