Xavier asked me that on purpose, and his gaze fell on Lorraine.
"Is it her?" he asked mockingly. He clearly did not like her.
"Xavier, you don't have to call Ms. Sommerton 'Mommy' if you don't want to."
"Of course, I won't. I only have one mommy," Xavier huffed and ran to the bed and lay down with his back facing us.
I initially wanted to take the chance to ask him why he was here alone, but my plans were foiled. I shrugged at Lorraine helplessly.
Xavier had always been a tough character.
"Let's go to bed." Xavier was with us. I could not say too many things in front of him.
Just when we were about to fall asleep, my phone rang. I realized that this was a personalized ringtone that I had set for Yvonne. I had not put my phone on silent.
"What's up?"
Yvonne's voice was trembling. I could hear a knock on her door through the call.
"Cole, someone's knocking on my door."
She was truly afraid that it was those people who had been captured coming back for revenge.
"How long have they been knocking on your door?" I got up, picked up my jacket, and headed out. Lorraine came along.
"Wait here for me."
"But…"
"No buts. Wait for me in the room. Don't open the door no matter who's knocking on it, you hear me?" I said with worry. I glanced at Xavier, who was sound asleep, and said to her, "Xavier is in your hands now."
Lorraine nodded reluctantly and paced around in the room.
When I answered the call, Xavier had already gotten up. He gritted his teeth anxiously. He wanted to jump out of bed and run off, but he was still a child and could barely overpower a female adult.
"Put down the knife in your hand and we can still talk about it." I stood in a defensive stance. He glared at me silently.
I sneered and walked over to him. With a swerve, he produced a smoke grenade from his pocket.
"Get down!"
By the time I realized, it was too late. He had already tossed the smoke grenade at me. All I could hear was a cacophony of coughs and a few cries.
The commotion in the hotel woke the other guests. They all popped their heads out to have a look. When I could finally see, that person was long gone.
"You bunch of useless trash! How could so many of you not even capture him?"
"He's a pro."
"Is that so? You really couldn't capture him, or you didn't want to capture him?"
