Pierre's face reddened with embarrassment as he waved his hand at Matthew awkwardly. "Bad timing. They were probably arguing earlier, and Carson must have ticked her off.

"Say, Carson's really too stubborn! How could he disrespect his wife like that? Now, I'm the one who has to bear Rebecca's anger as well."

Matthew didn't know what to say, because Pierre himself was nicknamed stubborn Monkey, yet, he was here calling Carson a stubborn person. It probably meant that Carson was even more stubborn than he was.

Still, Matthew didn't care what kind of person Carson was. All he wanted was to get his hands on the Five Integrations of Traditional and Modern Medicine as soon as possible.

He simply said, "Just bear with it. Who knows? She might be on her period, which is why she's having mood swings. Don't take it to heart and keep going on."

Pierre then looked at the door in hesitation. Upon seeing that, Matthew frowned and urged, "Call her out."

But Pierre said with a grimace, "You might not know this but Rebecca's… a hellcat. If we end up provoking her, she might start hitting us.

"I'm… I'm a little scared, so why don't we wait for her to calm down before we come back?"

Matthew, however, didn't have the patience to wait, so he smiled and said, "Just break the door down. I'll tell her that I broke it when she comes out."

Pierre then pointed at Matthew and said, "That's what you said, alright? You better not regret it."

Matthew pointed at his own face as well, saying, "If she gets angry and feels like hitting me, I'll let her slap me. I'll bear all of the consequences, so just knock the door down!"

At that, Pierre nodded and walked toward the gate, clenching his fists tight before he punched the gate three times in a row.

The metal gate rang out in a series of shrill echoes, and Rebecca began to yell from inside the house. "Monkey, are you looking for trouble? See if I don't scratch your face all nice and proper!"

As the chidings sounded, Matthew could hear the sound of footsteps approaching the door. Every step she took landed heavily on the floor, reflecting the rage contained within her.

Pierre was so frightened that he hid behind Matthew's back. "You promised to take the fall if that hellcat starts attacking us, right? You can't say that I was the one who punched the gate!"
