Matthew continued reading Pierre's Grudge Diary.
"I was stupefied. 'How did you know the things between me and Trafford?'
"The deputy hospital director looked at me with disdain and remarked, 'Everyone in Lambda City knows about this. How can you treat a patient with merely three dollars? My hospital has no room for idiots like you. No hospital in Lambda City will be willing to hire you.'
"I was fed up and fired back, 'What's wrong with treating the patient at the lowest cost? Do you know how poor their family is? A doctor should be compassionate, not heartless.'
"The deputy director yelled at me. 'Get lost. They're poor because they don't know how to make money, so they don't deserve the treatment. Scram! Our hospital won't hire a doctor like you who doesn't bring in any money.'
"I wanted to argue back, but then a few doctors rushed into the office and started pulling me out. I struggled as hard as I could, but with eight people holding me, my effort was futile.
"They ripped my clothes and punched me a few times. I was so dizzy, and I felt like a dead body being dragged out of the hospital.
"My back scraped against the ground and became all bloody. The pain had me screaming, drawing everyone's attention. In the end, I was abandoned at the entrance of the hospital.
"I tried to get back up, but I felt so weak. I believed in being a compassionate doctor, but my body was being treated like a monkey in the circus, with people watching me.
"The thought that I couldn't find a job in Lambda City filled me with despair and frustration. I just lay there all day, and I only got up when the sky turned dark.
"I hated Trafford, and I couldn't stand the deputy director whose name I didn't even know. If I ever get the chance, I'd love to stab him ten thousand times with needles just to pay him back for what he did."
After reading this, Matthew closed the diary. He sat there in silence, feeling a deep respect for Pierre and his approach.
Unfortunately, a doctor with such a kind heart ended up being called a fool and blacklisted. At that moment, he figured sticking a needle into the deputy director ten thousand times wasn't enough.
Matthew tucked the diary away and turned to Pierre. "Alright. Lead the way. I'll help you get your revenge."
Pierre pointed at the north. "Let's head this way first. I'll give you a heads up when it's time to turn."
