The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 1061

Matthew shook his head. "It wasn't because she listens to me. I had to beg her for help."

Disappointment flashed across Sonny's face as he stared blankly at the strand of hair in his hand. "My hair sacrificed itself for nothing. I…"

With only 13 strands of hair, he had ruthlessly plucked one out. He thought this excuse would get Matthew to help him and that it would let him see the play with Emily. However, it still didn't work.

He thought about his age and how leaving Lambda City today might mean never seeing Emily again in this lifetime. A sudden wave of sorrow overwhelmed him, and tears welled up in his eyes.

Seeing Sonny like this, Matthew felt it wouldn't sit right with him to do absolutely nothing.

After thinking for a long time, he finally said, "I can't get Professor Bolton to go see a play with you, but I can arrange for you to work with her."

What? Sonny froze for a minute before grabbing Matthew's hand in excitement. "You… You can make Emily work with me?

"If you can let me work with Emily, I'll do whatever you ask without so much as a frown for the rest of my life."

Matthew's mind immediately flashed to the mechanical exoskeleton he was wearing upon hearing this. If this guy joined, maybe the mechanical exoskeleton's performance could be improved further.

As that thought crossed his mind, he felt his blood start to race, and an inexplicable excitement rose inside him.

"Alright. Then come work for me. When Professor Bolton eats, you eat. When she clocks out, you clock out. Your entire schedule will sync with hers."

Sonny excitedly exclaimed, "Great! That's perfect. I have always wanted to work at the same company as her, but unfortunately, her company has never had a research project in my field.

"But I'll need to resign first. There are some procedures I have to take care of."

Matthew reached out and pulled off his work jacket, revealing the metallic mechanical exoskeleton underneath.

"Let me ask you something. Can this mechanical exoskeleton be mass-produced?"

Mass-produced? Sonny's face changed dramatically. "You're not planning to mass-produce it, are you? Are you trying to get us both killed?"

Matthew was confused. "Why would you say that?"

Sonny pointed at Matthew's mechanical exoskeleton. "This thing is a lab product for research purposes only.

However, Matthew didn't care about those things. "Don't worry. I'll keep my promise."

After chatting with Sonny a little longer, Matthew took off the mechanical exoskeleton and put it back in the laboratory. Then, he took the elevator downstairs.

As he walked out of the startup building, a cool breeze blew over him. The chill against his skin calmed his restless heart.

He stood at the entrance, tilted his head back, and looked up at the sky. It was a waning moon. The pale yellow crescent hung in the dark sky like a delicate work of art.

He gazed at the crescent moon, quietly zoning out. So much had happened tonight—Delisnora Bay, the Evanses, and now back at Gembrook Building. It all felt like a dream.

Only now, standing here quietly in the breeze and looking at the crescent moon, did it all feel real.

Across the street, a few cars were parked. In one of the black cars, Tessa was leaning against the window, staring through the glass at a familiar yet distant figure just over ten meters away.

The familiarity was because she had once seen Matthew in his most vulnerable state. Distant because now, this man made her feel both resentful and fearful, as though she dared not approach him.
