The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 1012

Cameron felt the idea of biting the bullet quite foreign to him.

He'd been the one picking on others all his life. Even when he was in trouble, his family always spent money fixing it. But now that Lyndon, Vernon, and Clement had passed away, he was left to suck it up.

Cameron gritted his teeth, his face all scrunched up. He looked like a starving wolf eating a rotten toad.

The putrid stench of the decaying toad made the wolf feel sick, but it was too hungry to throw up. It clenched his teeth and forced it down.

Leopold sighed. "You've got a similar temperament as me. Your heart's set on big things, but you're also willing to put up with things others can't. That's how you get ahead in life."

Cameron clenched his teeth. "Got it. From now on, no matter what Lorenzo throws at me, I won't complain."

Leopold nodded in approval. He walked over to Cameron and whispered in his ear. "I have a plan. Take Lorenzo with you and get your revenge first. After that, look for an opportunity to…"

A new day began.

A seven-story building stood on Arch Street in the southern suburbs of Lambda City. The building was empty with no residence. A sign hung at the entrance, displaying just one word—medicine.

People walking by were baffled. It wasn't a hospital or clinic, and it sure didn't look like a pharmacy. It left everyone scratching their heads.

Two people in their 30s were standing at the door. One of them wore glasses and held a folder. He furrowed his brows and turned to his companion.

"Something's off about this hospital, Durban."

Durban Sykes looked defeated. "I thought things were turning around, finding a hospital that hires without being picky. Turns out, I ran into a scammer. Let's leave."

Otto Fischer knitted his brows together. "I've burned all my bridges. I taped my resignation letter on the door of the director's office. There's no turning back now. Even if this hospital is a scam, I still want to check it out."

Durban shook his head. "You're still as impulsive as ever. Get the job first, then resign when you're ready."

The victims had their phones taken after entering such buildings and were locked up to go through a series of brainwashing. The images he saw in the video made it hard for him to take another step.

Durban continued, "Honestly, I'm more worried about getting caught up in a scam operation than a pyramid scheme. Once we're in, it's like living in hell. If we don't hit our targets, they will break our arms or legs. We'll be done for."

Otto's expression turned grim as he stared at the unfinished doorway. He suddenly felt a chill down his spine and said with uncertainty, "We can't be that unlucky, right?"

Durban looked back. Seeing the pedestrians on the road through the door, he felt more at ease. "I heard your apprentice got promoted, Otto. And your apprentice snagged your girlfriend.

"I know people are always making things hard for you. Plus, your apprentice's uncle is the hospital director.

"I-I get how frustrating it is for you at the hospital. I'm pissed off too. Just because I don't have connections, they move me to a new position just when my research project hits a milestone.

"Six years of grinding away, and someone else takes the credit. It's all because I don't have any power or influence, like a nobody.

"But… so what? All it does is make us angry and bitter, but it won't change anything. However, falling into a scam operation can literally be the end of us."
