Alda understood what Frank was getting at right then and whispered, "Thank you!"
"Just words aren't enough!" Frank grinned, gently lifting her chin.
Having had a similar experience before, Alda knew what he was going for.
However, as she closed her eyes shyly, she waited for a long while but nothing ever came.
Then, she opened her eyes, steeled herself, and kissed him instead!
Frank smiled in wry amusement. "After all that, I'm the one getting exploited!"
Alda giggled but said nothing.

Early next morning, Frank woke up to an appetizing scent, and he stepped out to see that Sadie's younger brother, Rain Godot, was cooking in the kitchen!
"You can cook?" He asked.
Rain chuckled. "I may look young, but I have a Grade 2 chef cert!"
"Not bad!"
Frank nodded and sat down at the dining table.
It was several simple homemade dishes, and Frank was surprised by the culinary skill despite having eaten tons of gourmet food. The taste was truly savory, and not even the average person could hope to match it!
Later, Frank asked, "If my hunch is right, you have no powers, unlike your sister. Or am I wrong?"
"You're right." Rain smiled as he admitted it. "It's the twenty-first century. Modern weapons would always win anyway, so a proper job is the best thing one could strive for."
"Shame." Frank chuckled. "If not for your terrible sister, you could become a national chef with your culinary skills!"
Rain threw his hands up. "I'd never presume such privilege. Being alive is plenty for me!"
Ida nodded in realization as well. "That means people like us are just clowns, feeling invincible just because we were granted some powers. It's really embarrassing now that I think of it!"
Frank was not sure if he should laugh or cry. "It's not too late to turn things around!"
"What's too late?" Sadie asked, having just woken up and not heard the context of the exchange.
"It's too late for you to throw yourself into his arms!"
Seeing that Frank was joking, Ida, who was a comedian herself, took the joke further.
"You're crazy!"
Sadie rolled her eyes at Ida before sitting beside Frank, saying somberly, "I've thought about it the whole night, but I've decided… I'll be your apprentice!
"Don't worry. I'm not trying to learn your moves or seek revenge. I'd just like to protect you when you're older and less able!
"There's no repaying a life debt, and I must at least go that far to deserve your grace!"
