The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage novel Chapter 1990

Smiling, Frank continued, "That's what I'd like to know—have I done something to offend anyone here, or maybe you just don't like me because I'm that good looking?"

Geon scowled even harder at Frank's words.

Beside him, Carlo slammed his hand on the table and bellowed coldly, "Quit clowning around! You're not welcome here, so leave! Otherwise, I'll call in my boys, and you won't be able to leave even if you want to!"

"Temper, temper." Frank smiled as he slowly stood up. "So you could tell that I was just clowning around…"

That was when his smile changed to an icy glare, and he knocked his wine glass to the floor, crushing it under his foot.

"Since none of you want to play nice, I won't. Did you really think that I'm that easily bullied?" he growled coolly, looking around at everyone around the table. "If you want me, come after me! It says more about you than me, the way you'd rather come after the people around me!"

Geon recovered from his shock just then, and snapped, "How dare you, Frank L—"

"Shut up!"

Frank snapped back, stopping Geon right then. "I have no fight with you, Geon Kramer, or any officials here in Zamri. We could've minded our own business, and I even refrained from bothering you even though it's your men who threw me into Blackwater before. Do you know why?"

Seeing that Geon was silent, Frank sneered sinisterly. "That's because I didn't want to get involved with you, and as long as you don't mess with me in the open, I wouldn't bother you for no reason either! And yet!"

Pausing, Frank's eyes flashed murderously as he growled, "You've gone way over the line now, Geon. Even though I didn't want to have anything to do with any government officials, I'm sure that you scum would keep mocking me if I keep taking this lying down!

"In that case, why don't I just get rid of everyone here in one stroke?" Frank finished, sneering viciously.

"That's why he's a big deal in the Midlands. Mr. Barzini leaves nothing to chance… He certainly puts me to shame!"

"You heard him, Frank Lawrence! One word from Mr. Barzini, and his men will come in and take you down!"

"Don't think you get to strut!"

Seeing that everyone around the table had stopped panicking and were once again filled with confidence, Frank snorted in disdain and simply watched them yap like they all had a few screws loose in the head.

"Dad!"

Fredo sobbed as he shouted, still on his knees, "Our men… are dead! They're all dead!"
