The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 233

Stella turned her head and saw three familiar faces walking into the clinic. It didn't take long for her to realize why Mr. Burton had called her in to help out.

She wasn't exactly surprised. After all, Jasper and Haynes had been worrying themselves sick over Rachel's condition. Finding Mr. Burton must have taken quite a bit of effort on their part.

Jasper's eyes widened in disbelief when he spotted her. "Stella, are you so desperate for a date with Haynie that you'd actually follow him here? Let me tell you, if you mess up Rachel's treatment, I'll never forgive you!"

Rachel chimed in softly, "Jasper, don't say that. Maybe Ms. Cameron just wanted to see Haynie, which is why she's here."

Stella gave a slight, knowing smile. "I was here first, so if anyone's following anyone, it's you guys following me."

Jasper snorted, "And why would anyone want to follow a stay-at-home mom? No, it's you who couldn't take Haynie not showing up for your little rendezvous, so you chased him down here. Honestly, have you no shame?"

Stella chuckled, "You're right. I have no shame because I've lent my face to the mistress who's always hanging around married men. Without my face, she wouldn't dare show hers in public."

Jasper couldn't miss the jab in Stella's words. He pointed at her, fuming, struggling to find the right retort. Rachel, feeling embarrassed by the open confrontation, looked visibly uncomfortable.

Haynes frowned at Stella, his lips pressing into a thin line, his handsome features clouded with a frosty demeanor. It was clear he thought her presence was meant to disrupt things.

"Stella, I know why you're here," Haynes spoke in a low voice. "I stood you up that day, and I'll make it up to you."

Jasper was the first to break the silence with a laugh. "Divorce? Haynie himself said you were meeting for a date!"

"Divorce? Is this your new tactic? To use divorce as a ploy to get Haynie to meet with you?

Stella, playing hard to get isn't done like this. A woman shouldn't throw around threats of divorce so lightly..."

He sneered at Stella, “Maybe staying home and playing the dutiful wife is more effective than talking about divorce.”

Rachel, regaining her composure, chimed in with feigned sincerity. "Haynie, Ms. Cameron was just joking. Don't take it seriously. Perhaps you've been too busy lately and neglected Ms. Cameron, which is why she said something like that to get your attention..."
