"Next time someone picks it up, you might never find it again."
With that, Joshua turned to leave. Leonard's voice called out after him.
"Are you starting to remember?"
Joshua paused and looked back, his dark eyes as fathomless as the deep ocean. "Did I forget something important?"
Leonard didn't answer, but his predatory gaze locked onto Joshua's face, searching for any crack in the facade. "Why are you targeting me at every turn? If memory serves, we've only met a handful of times."
Joshua remained perfectly composed, his expression mildly amused. "Oh, it's because I had a dream a while ago. In it, there was a thief who kept coveting what was mine. Eventually, while I was away, he stole it. You happen to look exactly like the thief in my dream, which is why I find you so repulsive. Since you just lost your cat, you must understand exactly how it feels to have something important stolen from you, right?"
Leonard's gaze turned dark. "Did you come back just for revenge?"
"I was hypnotized three years ago and lost some memories," Joshua said lightly. "You seem to know quite a lot about my past. Why don't you fill me in? If the story entertains me, I might just give your cat back."
Before Leonard could respond, a sudden gunshot shattered the air.
Bang!
The sharp crack of shattering glass immediately followed.
