The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 2183

"Joshua isn't the type to cling to people," Stella said, her tone hardening. "Leonard, I hope you can stop holding such a strong prejudice against him."

By the end of her sentence, her voice had gone completely cold.

Leonard shut his mouth.

He knew that no matter what he said, she would never believe him.

In her heart, Joshua was flawless.

Leonard dropped her off at her place first.

Before closing the car door, Stella looked at him. "About Calico... I'll—"

He cut her off before she could finish.

"It's fine. I'll figure it out myself."

Stella frowned. "He clearly holds a grudge against you. Unless you let him torment you until he's satisfied, he's never going to hand that cat over.

Don't you want to bring Calico home as soon as possible?"

Leonard's voice was grim. "If the price of getting Calico back is you, I'd rather the cat stay with Joshua.

Stella, I will handle this myself."

As a man, how could he not see exactly what Joshua was plotting?

But Stella viewed him through rose-tinted glasses, always choosing to believe the absolute best of him.

Joshua's tactics were endless, and he possessed absolutely no moral baseline.

Stella was completely out of her depth against him.

Moreover, Joshua wasn't someone she could easily shake off just because she wanted to.

Stella stared at Leonard, assuming he was just riled up by Joshua's mocking words from earlier.

"You don't need to take what he said to heart. Getting Calico back is the priority."

While Stella didn't believe Joshua would physically harm the animal, he wasn't its owner. She didn't want the poor cat trapped in an unfamiliar environment for too long.

...

When Leonard finally returned to the cafe, his staff immediately rushed over to greet him.

One of them handed him a small gift bag. "Boss, Ms. Cameron left this behind. If you see her, could you pass it to her?"

Leonard glanced down. It was the bag of pastries Juniper had given her.

He knew Stella probably felt incredibly uncomfortable keeping it, but he decided not to throw it away just yet. He would return it to her tomorrow.

It was the perfect excuse to see her again.

Taking the bag, he suddenly remembered the flowers.

"Where is that bouquet?" he asked.

The staff member suddenly remembered she had placed it in a vase.

She hurried over and handed it to him. "Boss, do you mean this bouquet of forget-me-nots?"
