Driven by intense worry for Callie's safety, Haynes took Keen and flew back to Neo-Vespera that very same day.
Stella remained at Abby's house.
During that time, Joshua called her to ask when she was coming home.
She merely told him it would be another two days, and he didn't press the issue any further.
Three days later, she slipped the tracking ring off her finger and left it resting on the living room table.
She turned to Abby. "Is everything arranged?"
Looking at Stella, who was now wearing a wig and dressed entirely as a man, Abby let out a soft sigh.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Star? If Joshua finds out, he's going to be worried sick about you."
Stella adjusted her hat and pulled up her face mask. "If he asks you, don't bother covering for me. Just tell him the truth.
Going back to Neo-Vespera is for the best anyway. At the very least, Haynes won't be pinned down, and he won't get hurt because of this again."
She checked her watch. "It's getting late. I need to go."
Abby nodded.
Just as she reached the door, Abby suddenly called out to her.
"Star."
She glanced back. "Is there something else?"
"You look completely exhausted lately. Please make sure you get enough rest.
Save a little energy for yourself; don't pour absolutely everything into worrying about Joshua," Abby urged, her eyes filled with concern.
While staying at Abby's house, Stella hadn't taken a single moment to rest.
Aside from occasionally heading out to discuss business collaborations, she had spent every waking hour analyzing Joshua's hypnosis treatment plan, constantly communicating and double-checking details with Laurel and Dr. Hunt. She literally had zero free time.
Although Stella never complained, Abby knew her heart was carrying an incredibly heavy burden.
Hearing this, a faint smile touched Stella's lips.
"I will. If you run into any issues you can't handle here, remember to call me immediately."
After Abby promised she would, Stella finally left.
