The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance novel Chapter 1272

Before, she had always been dismissive of Leonard's devotion.

But now, with the tables turned and someone else as the object of affection, Aurora tasted the bitter sting of injustice for the first time.

She hadn't done anything, so why was Joshua humiliating her like this?

However, after saying his piece, Joshua ignored her completely. He glanced at his watch, then began scanning the surroundings.

Five or six minutes later, a car pulled up beside him, and Stella Cameron stepped out. Her expression was tense, her eyes filled with unconcealed worry.

"Joshua, what happened? A car accident?"

The moment he saw her, a light flickered in Joshua's eyes. "The brakes were a bit sluggish," he said. "I didn't react in time, and… well, this happened."

Stella's gaze shifted to Aurora, who was standing nearby. "Ms. Williams, are you alright?"

Before Aurora could answer, Joshua jumped in. "We weren't in the same car. She's fine."

Joshua didn't appear seriously injured, but the crash had left him with scrapes on his arm and cheek.

"Let's get you to a hospital for a check-up," Stella insisted. "We need to make sure there are no internal injuries."

The man who had been so arrogant and defiant in front of Aurora instantly transformed into a gentle, almost boyish figure. "Star, I'm sorry. I've caused you trouble again."

"It’s fine. Your health is what's important. Come on, I'll take you to the hospital."

Aurora watched the entire exchange, a storm of complex emotions brewing inside her. As Stella was about to get into her car, she noticed Aurora watching them. Her eyes then fell on the mangled wreck of the Dawnlight nearby, and she flinched.

It had been a long time since she had last seen him, not since Aurora had been kidnapped. Back then, he had been confident and full of vigor. Now, after such a short time, he looked utterly defeated.

As if sensing her presence, Leonard's head snapped up, his eyes locking on the doorway. "Aurora, you're finally here…"

His words trailed off as he saw Stella.

"It's you." His expression cooled. "Are you here to gloat?"

Stella remained at the door. "I have better things to do than waste my time visiting people I despise."

Leonard's gaze fell to the stack of medical reports in her hand. A cold, unreadable smile touched his lips. "Ms. Cameron, you certainly treat your bodyguard well, personally escorting him for a check-up."
