Chapter 219 Praise

Ranita took the cotton candy.

She looked down the corridor and noticed a little head leaning against the wall at the corner, a pair of big black eyes curiously watching her.

"Please thank the little hero for me. He's really a cute kid," Ranita said, smiling broadly at the boy from a distance.

The little boy widened his eyes and waved at her cautiously.

"He's so adorable," Ranita giggled.

"I know, right? These little angels are amazing. His name is Starlet, and he has congenital heart disease. But he's lucky; he recently found a donor match and will have surgery soon," Steve explained.

Steve may look cold on the outside, but inside he was warm-hearted and respected as an excellent doctor. Suddenly, Ranita realized how much of a shining star Steve really was.

"You're amazing too, Dr. Pearson," she complimented him with admiration in her voice.

Steve crossed his arms over his chest and grinned widely. "Wow! Thank you for your praise! I'm honored!"

After pausing for a moment to think about it, Steve lowered his voice slightly before saying, "Are you feeling better now? If so, go visit your friend instead of basking in the sun here."

Ranita did feel better now thanks to Steve's kindness.

"Thank you Dr. Pearson; you're such a good person!" she replied gratefully.

Steve felt mildly uncomfortable receiving praise like this.

In the hospital room, Eve, upon seeing Ranita, became as happy as a child. "My Ranita darling, you finally came!"

"Did you receive the roses I had Dylan deliver to you?" she asked.

Ranita nodded, "Yes, I got them! I knew it must be one of your quirky ideas!"

"How can you call it a quirky idea? If that scum Brendon saw it, it would be like being cheated," Eve defended herself, completely unapologetic.

"Who knows!" Ranita handed her an apple. "Have some fruit."

"Thanks, babe!" Eve took it happily and asked, "Will you have dinner with me tonight? I'm so bored here!"

Ranita had plans for the evening. "I have something to do and can't accompany you."

"What? You have plans? With who?" Curious as ever, Eve suddenly widened her eyes. "Oh... is it a handsome guy?"

Ranita felt embarrassed by the question and shook her head, "No, just having a meal with the senior."

"Senior? Do I know him?" Eve, being the gossip she was, made Ranita feel defenseless. Blushing, Ranita explained, "The professor insisted that we meet. You know the professor's personality. If I don't go, he might pester me for the entire year."

"Anyway, I just go for a meal. I don't think Vincent had any other intentions."

Vincent used to work in the Department of Translation and Interpretation, and their work didn't overlap much. Even if they had met a couple of times, it was from a distance, and they weren't particularly familiar with each other.
