The Divorcee Who Shines novel Chapter 279

Chapter 279 Showing Off with Pride

Ranita closed the door and took it over from Shannon. Shannon smiled, her face glowing with happiness. "Thanks, Ranita. Please give this to Brendon for me."

"Oh, and by the way, Ranita, you look beautiful today. Are you going to the Webster family's birthday party later?"

Shannon lightly touched her stomach while raising her eyebrows in a boastful manner.

Ranita felt uneasy inside.

"Ranita, I'll see you later. I have to go now," Shannon said softly as she turned around.

"Wait a minute, Shannon," Ranita called out.

"What's wrong?" Shannon lowered her eyes and tears immediately welled up in them as if she were pitifully helpless. "I'm just helping Brendon deliver his watch here; is that not allowed? I promised Brendon that he could spend time with you today."

Her made-up face looked pathetic.

It was ridiculous how she acted like a wife who needed someone else's permission to let her husband accompany his own wife! As Ranita held onto the box about to speak up, Shannon twisted her fingers and spoke first, "Ranita, please don't be angry okay? I'll leave right away."

"Shannon," Ranita said calmly but firmly. "Can we talk tomorrow?"

"Do you have something important to tell me?" asked Shannon weakly while biting on her lip gently.

"Ranita-" But before they could continue their conversation further, Brendon's voice interrupted them as he opened the door from inside, "Shannon? What are you doing here?"

Brendon looked at her delicate appearance and suppressed his displeasure. "Aren't you feeling unwell? Don't run around."

"Thank you for your concern, Brendon. I'm fine!" Shannon gently stroked her belly and looked at Brendon coyly. "You can rest assured that our baby is healthy."

Brendon's eyes turned dark as he spoke with a sharp tone from his thin lips. "Don't mention this in front of Ranita."

"I... I won't," Shannon lowered her head. "Brendon, I know you don't want to hurt Ranita. She has been through such a terrible experience when she was abducted and must have suffered psychologically... I don't want to upset her at this time!"

"But... this is still our child; my request isn't too much. All I hope for is to give the baby a home."

Shannon knew when to stop pushing the issue; she bit her lip and said, "Forget it, I won't say anything more about it. I know that you will handle it properly. I'll leave now! You go back and keep Ranita company!"
