The Divorcee Who Shines novel Chapter 158

Chapter 158 Cramps

Ranita didn't continue reading anymore; not because she didn't want to but because she couldn't bear doing so anymore.

She feared using up all of her courage only for pain beyond measure waiting around every corner once again.

The night enveloped everything around her as Ranita tossed and turned in bed - exhausted but unable move while remaining painfully alert mentally speaking.

Without Brendon, the sound of insects seemed to become more peaceful. The night was heavy with dew. Ranita fell into a deep sleep without knowing how much time had passed. In her dream, she felt like her legs were soaked in ice water, causing her to constantly curl up from the cold.

"Hiss..." Suddenly, a sharp pain woke Ranita up from her slumber. She struggled to sit up with an expression of extreme pain on her face. Her right calf was cramping up and the muscles felt like they were suddenly being crushed, causing indescribable agony that left Ranita unable to move.

It hurt so much!

Ranita tried hard to straighten out her leg but it was no use; she collapsed onto the bed writhing in pain for what felt like an eternity.

Finally, after enduring through unbearable suffering for what seemed like forever, the pain gradually subsided and Ranita's labored breathing slowed down as well.

It really hurt too much!

Panting heavily on the bed as if she had just been pulled out of water; sweat drenched all over her back due to intense discomfort and agony that had consumed every inch of her body.

Unable to bear it any longer, Ranita called Brendon immediately for help even though it was late at night. The phone rang only once before he answered it promptly.

"Brendon..." Ranita's voice sounded hoarse and weak from all the excruciating pain she'd been experiencing earlier on.

The next second, Shannon's sweet voice came through instead, "Rantia? Are you looking for Brendon? He just went into shower now!"

"Didn't I tell you to sleep already? Why aren't you asleep yet?" Not long after, Brendon got out of the bathroom, his face wrinkled with displeasure.

"Brendon, I'm scared, I can't sleep," Shannon said, biting her lip as she reached for Brendon's hand. Brendon discreetly avoided her grasp and adjusted his slightly wrinkled white shirt.

"No need to be afraid. This is a hospital; no one will hurt you here."

"It was so terrifying. I was just standing there, and suddenly a car rushed at me... If it weren't for Cindy pushing me out of the way in time, I might have... *sniffle*... I'm really scared! I'm afraid I won't see you again..."

Brendon felt a headache coming on.

"No one will hurt you here. It's late, and you need rest," Brendon said. But his thoughts wandered to Ranita. He wondered if she had gone to bed and if she was still mad at him.
