:
A rough moan slid from Julius‘ mouth before he could call it back.

He knew she had spent the day fending off a vicious cyber–attack, pouring every ounce of focus into the defense until she was drained.
Part of him wanted to make her lie down, draw the curtains, and guard her dreams. Yet another part–hot, selfish–could not bear to push her away.
“Stay with me. Don’t drift off,” she breathed, nipping the delicate edge of his ear.
“Quinn…” Julius managed, voice ragged. “Not tonight. Rest first–tomorrow, when you’ve slept, I’ll give you every second you ask for, as long as you want, but tonight…”
He had to summon every shred of willpower just to finish the sentence.
“I’m not fragile,” she shot back. “If anything, I’m realizing my hunger for you is larger than I ever imagined.”
She wanted all of him–heart, body, the quiet spaces between breaths.
For her, this storm of wanting was utterly new, raw, and uncharted.
Julius froze, stunned into stillness.
Every syllable she spoke, every inch she pressed closer, every breathy gasp that caught in her throat testified to just how fiercely she desired him.
The proof surrounded him like heat off glowing coals.
Dreams he once chased with aching desperation now seemed to fall straight into his palms.
There had been a time he feared she might never want him enough–so he’d considered using any lure, even the tease of his own body, to keep her.
None of it had worked back then.
Quinn had never been someone ruled by desire.
Yet tonight, her longing burned bright and undeniable.
“Do you truly want me that much?” Julius’s question rasped out, raw and disbelieving.

“Don’t you want me just as badly?” she countered, eyes shining.
His gaze darkened; he swallowed the sudden flood of desire thickening his throat.
Of course. He wanted her until the need bordered on madness.
“But-”

“No more buts, my sweet, patient man. Thank you for waiting,” she murmured before sealing his protest with a deep, silencing kiss.
Had he not guarded his love through their long separation, had he not waited, neither of them would have found their way back to this moment.
He had waited–patient as stone—and loved her with a resolve that never wavered, a faith strong enough to draw her back and let them stand beside each other again.
How could she not fall even deeper for a man like that–deeper than she had ever believed her heart capable of going.
So in the hush before dawn their bodies intertwined, all fierce longing and limitless affection, as if the world held nothing beyond the heat beneath that single hotel sheet.
The next morning, Quinn was dragged from sleep by the shrill peal of the room’s telephone. Blinking toward the sound, she found Julius perched on a couch across the plush suite, the device vibrating in his hand.
“I’m busy right now,” Julius said into the receiver, his tone cool, clipped, unarguable. He ended the call, crossed to the bed, and gazed at the now–awake Quinn. “Sorry about the noise. Do you want to sleep a little longer?”
Quinn shook her head, reached for her own phone on the nightstand, and checked the display. It was already creeping toward noon–eleven fifty–eight. She must have slept like a stone.
“I’m rested. I still need to swing by Fane Group in a bit,” she said, sitting up and pushing the sheets aside.
After everything that had exploded last night, she had to visit the corporation and get a clearer picture.
No calls from their end had reached her phone, which, she supposed, meant the hackers had finally halted their assault.
“Freshen up. I’ll have room service send lunch while you’re in the shower,” Julius said.

“Sure,” Quinn murmured, slipping from the mattress and padding toward the bathroom, the loose hotel robe brushing her calves.
Once she disappeared behind the frosted glass, Julius redialed the number that had roused them.
