In the dining room, the tension in the air was palpable.
Both Logan and Ryan refused to give in to each other, and the situation seemed to be spiraling out of control.
“Hahaha... Come on, Dad, Ryan. It’s rare for the family to get together for a meal. Let’s not do this!” Liam laughed as he walked over to the old man, helping him to sit down and massage his shoulders.
“Ryan has been managing the Hoffman Group for you. It’s not easy for him to work such long hours, but he really stepped up and contributed to the family.”
Ryan stared coldly at Liam’s sly expression, expecting him to spew some nonsense.
“Think about it. Has Ryan ever demanded anything from you over the years?”
Logan furrowed his brow tightly, actually pondering for a moment.
His eldest son had passed away early, so Logan only had one grandson, Ryan. At a young age, Ryan took on the responsibility of caring for his mother and younger sister.
Over the years, Ryan has independently developed businesses, made profitable investments, and expanded his ventures widely in Savrow. Indeed, Ryan had never once demanded anything from Logan.
Liam watched Logan’s expression soften and continued with a smile. “Now, Ryan wants to marry Carrie Salvador. It’s rare for him to go against your wishes. Why not let him do what he wants?”
Logan looked up at Liam in surprise, his lips pressed tightly together.
Ryan was also taken aback. He clearly did not anticipate Liam, who had been standing in his way, to suddenly be on his side and supporting him. He thought, ‘Did this bastard forget everything and just change his mind out of nowhere?’
Liam leaned closer to his father and whispered, “The girl’s mother may be Shannon the murderer, but she is also Gregory’s daughter. She is a legitimate heiress of the Salvador family, which owns the leading financial group in Savrow. This marriage could benefit us greatly. Even if there’s no business collaboration, binding them through marriage will make them more inclined to help us. Later, they would have to consider us their in-laws and give us more benefits.”
Liam covered his mouth and spoke even softer. “As for the Salvador girl... You don’t need to worry. We know what Ryan is like. He is just looking for something new, something exciting. Marrying his best friend’s sister just adds a bit of thrill.”
Logan clicked his tongue, feeling that what Liam said was inappropriate.
Claire was filled with a mixture of frustration and reluctance as she watched her son walk away.
With Zoe abroad, it felt like her only son had also abandoned her. Claire knew Ryan was spending all his time with Shannon’s daughter, completely neglecting her.
As these thoughts crossed her mind, she clutched her clothes in despair and muttered to herself, “Why is my life so miserable…”
“How is your life miserable, sister-in-law? Your future daughter-in-law is worth a fortune. If I were you, I’d thank God for this marriage.” Selena approached Claire with a smile. “Once Zoe comes back to stay with you, your house will be full of life again. You need to figure out a way to bring Zoe back.”
“Yes, Zoe... I need my Zoe back with me.” Claire could not help but feel the urge to cry as she thought about her daughter, who was all alone abroad.
Selena got into the car, her grin disappearing as she gave her husband a stern look while he played games on his phone. “What’s going on with you? Weren't you totally against Ryan marrying that girl from the Salvador family? Why the sudden change in attitude?”
“You ignorant woman, what would you understand?” Liam smiled sinisterly and said, “This is just me buttering up Ryan. I want to make him feel unstoppable like he’s in control of the whole world. The higher he climbs, the harder he’ll fall!”
