“Ryan! Are you out of your mind? What on earth are you saying?!” Claire trembled with anger.
Logan locked eyes with Ryan, the tension rising as hostility filled the room. His greatest worries had become reality—this child was growing increasingly powerful, almost on the brink of surpassing him.
Ryan was strong and capable, while Logan was getting old. He could no longer control his grandson. Liam had ambitions, but he lacked the ability. The future of the Hoffman family depended on Ryan.
But Logan could not just back down like that. As the head of the family, being intimidated by his own grandson was a total humiliation.
At that moment, Liam’s phone vibrated in his pocket. He impatiently took it out and glanced at it. His pupils contracted instantly, and he stepped outside to answer the call.
…
In the deserted corridor, Liam answered the call, “Hello, Zoe. What made you decide to call your uncle?”
“Because I miss you, Uncle Liam.” Zoe’s voice was exaggeratedly sweet, making him cringe.
“Ah, without you in Savrow, our home has lost much of its joy and laughter. Your grandfather and your mother miss you so much they can hardly eat.” Liam lit a cigarette, squinting as he took a drag.
“I also want to return to Grandpa and Mommy, but as you know, my brother hates me so much...”
“Uncle Liam, I can do it. But I have to be back in Savrow first,” Zoe replied.
“With Ryan’s impatience, he’d marry that girl tomorrow if it was possible. It might be too late by the time you return.”
Zoe laughed and said, “Uncle, you shouldn’t be against it. Right now, you should show complete support. Maybe you can convince Grandpa to approve of Ryan marrying Carrie.”
Liam was confused and asked, “What are you talking about? Why?”
“I have my reasons for doing this.” Zoe’s voice turned cold and cryptic. “You handle this matter first. As for the rest, I have plans when I return to Savrow.”
