Hailey smirked. "Alright, I'll sit here and watch. Carly, hurry up and make the call!"
It was obvious that Hailey was relishing the unfolding drama.
But Carly remained sure of herself. Since Adam was under the influence of the Heartstring Venom, she refused to believe he would back out now.
With that, she pulled out her phone and dialed Adam's number, casting a knowing glance at Hailey. "Hailey, get ready—you're about to be proven wrong!"
The phone rang several times, but there was no answer.
Soon, a cold, mechanical female voice echoed from the other end. "Sorry, the number you've dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Adam wasn't answering. Why wasn't he picking up?
A wave of panic rippled through Carly, but she quickly dialed his number again. After multiple attempts, there was still no response.
She felt her heart sink—Adam wasn't answering her calls.
They had made plans to meet for dinner here last night, but now Adam was nowhere to be found.
What on earth was going on?
At that moment, Hailey couldn't suppress her laughter. She had been watching Carly carefully, and as soon as she saw the change in Carly's expression, she knew exactly what was happening.
She sneered. "Carly, what's happening? Why hasn't Adam shown up yet? Didn't you call him? Come on, tell me—did he say he's on his way?"
Adam didn't pick up Hailey's call either.
Carly couldn't help but laugh. "So, Hailey, looks like Adam didn't answer your call either, huh? Well, now I get it—Adam must be really busy. He's probably in a meeting and doesn't have time to answer his phone. But he did invite me out for dinner, so I'm sure he'll be here soon!"
Hailey's lips curled into a smirk. "Damn, Carly, you're way too confident. I actually think the reason Adam's not answering our calls is that he's with someone important right now."
"Someone important? Hailey, who are you talking about?"
"Don't act clueless, Carly. You know exactly who I mean. Let me make it clear—the 'important person' is Celine. I bet Adam's with her right now."
