In Amanda’s eyes, Caitlin was nothing more than a worthless country girl.
She wasn’t even fit to hold a candle to Ann.
How could someone like Caitlin ever hope to meet Victor?
Shameless.
Apex Game Studios was the number one name in the industry, a place everyone dreamed of working for.
Someone like Caitlin, a small-town nobody, didn’t even have what it took to be Victor’s assistant.
Assistant? Who was she kidding?
If it weren’t for the Gonzales family, Caitlin wouldn’t even qualify to clean the toilets at Apex.
Even if Ann were crippled, Caitlin still couldn’t compare—she wasn’t even a fraction of what Ann was.
Ann nodded. “You’re right, Mom. Caitlin’s just a nobody from the sticks. What right does she have to compete with me?”
As she spoke, a thought seemed to strike Ann, and her eyes brightened. “By the way, Mom, have you heard of Miss Kensington?”
“Miss Kensington?” Amanda’s eyes narrowed. “You mean the developer behind Imperial Ascent?”
“That’s the one.” Ann nodded. “Dad wants to expand into the gaming industry, right? If I can get to know Miss Kensington through Victor—maybe even become close friends with her—wouldn’t she be able to give some advice to Dad’s company?”
Miss Kensington was a legend in the gaming world—Victor owed his comeback to her genius.
Right now, Imperial Ascent had rights in sixteen countries. It was, without question, the number one game out there.
If the Templeton Group could get Miss Kensington’s guidance, they might just become the next Apex.
Ann was certain of her own charm. Men fell for her at first sight, and women were eager to become her best friend. She was sure that even the fabled Miss Kensington wouldn’t be able to resist her, and they’d be thick as thieves in no time.
By the time Ann finished her little speech, she was already lost in a daydream. If she became friends with Miss Kensington, even Keira would have to look at her differently.
Miss Kensington! In the entire Gonzales family, who else could pull something like that off?
Caitlin? As if. Caitlin probably didn’t even have what it took to be in the same room as Miss Kensington.
The more Ann thought about it, the more excited she got. She acted as if she’d already become Miss Kensington’s closest friend.
Amanda gazed at her daughter with nothing but pride in her eyes. “Victor has always admired talented young women. Ann, you’re exceptional—he’s bound to like you. As long as you seize the opportunity, he’ll introduce you to Miss Kensington for sure.”
Ann nodded eagerly. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll make sure Miss Kensington and I become best friends. Closer than sisters, even.”
