A sudden wave of anxiety crept over him.
Didn’t Skyler dislike reading finance books?
But Gordon, being Gordon, betrayed nothing. He simply held out his hand to Skyler. “Give me the book.”
“Why?” Skyler stared at him, completely lost.
“Don’t make me ask again.”
Skyler didn’t dare provoke Gordon—especially not when he could see the warning glint in his eyes. Reluctantly, he handed the book over.
The second Gordon took it, relief washed over him.
That was close.
He’d almost been found out.
After a moment, Gordon spoke again, his tone casual. “There’s something important I haven’t finished reading. I’ll lend it to you tomorrow.”
Skyler didn’t think much of it and nodded. “Alright, Uncle.”

London.
Hospital.
Ann was slowly coming to terms with the reality of her injured leg. Lying in her hospital bed, she couldn’t hide her frustration. “Mom, I heard Grandma’s planning to let Caitlin intern at Gonzales Holdings as soon as she gets back from Silverhaven. Is that true?”
Her leg was ruined, Keira didn’t care, and now—even worse—Caitlin was being handed an internship at the family company.
How was Ann supposed to swallow this?
How could anyone be so blatantly biased?
