Warren nodded. “I’ll take care of the arrangements right away. As for a medical assistant, what do you think about having Dr. Fairchild help?”
Ann seethed as Caitlin, that little upstart, dared to ignore her. She was the sole heir of the Gonzales family, after all! She’d actually lowered herself to apologize in person, and this girl had the nerve not to accept it? Hmph! That girl’s moment of glory wouldn’t last long.
Kelvin, having just been named, stepped forward. “Mr. Warren, I have a surgery scheduled in half an hour, so I might not be able to make it.”
The truth was, he could have fit it in if he wanted to. But Kelvin had no intention of playing second fiddle to a fraud. If Caitlin had real talent, he’d have been more than happy to help. After all, if she managed to save Hannah, he’d be counted among her saviors, which would do wonders for his career. But the way things stood, he was convinced Caitlin was going to get Hannah killed. And if that happened, he’d be implicated too. That was a risk he wasn’t willing to take.
Warren didn’t press the issue. “All right, I’ll find someone else.”
Caitlin, sharp as ever, caught the reluctance in Kelvin’s eyes. “Mr. Richards, there’s no need. I just remembered—I can handle the Golden Needle Channel Activation on my own.”
If Kelvin wasn’t willing to take the risk, there was no point in forcing anyone else. Caitlin had no interest in making things difficult for others.
Warren rushed to reassure her, “Dr. Kensington, the entire Richards family owes you for this. It’s no trouble at all for me to find a medical assistant.”
“Really, there’s no need,” Caitlin replied. “Just arrange a sterile room for me. That’s all I need.”
“Of course.”
The sterile room was prepared in no time. Nurses wheeled Hannah in, while Caitlin changed into scrubs.
Just before she entered the operating room, Frederick stopped her. “Dr. Kensington, how long will the Golden Needle Channel Activation take?”
