Caitlin lowered her gaze, meeting Ann’s eyes calmly. “I’m still in my senior year of high school. I haven’t attended college yet.”
Haven’t attended college?
Ann nearly burst out laughing.
No college basically meant illiterate in her eyes.
Just an uneducated little nobody, and she had the nerve to show off in front of her?
Shameless.
Zachary pressed on, “Dr. Kensington, then you must’ve apprenticed with someone renowned?”
“My mentor is indeed quite exceptional.” Caitlin nodded slightly.
Ann’s lips tightened imperceptibly at that.
What was wrong with the Richards family?
This blonde slip of a girl just admitted she’d never even been to college, and they still hadn’t shown her the door?
Did they seriously believe Caitlin was some prodigy from a famous medical lineage?
Honestly, the Richardses were even more gullible than Ann had imagined.
Well, it looked like she’d have to be the one to expose Caitlin for what she really was.
With that thought, Ann’s eyes narrowed. “You’re just a high school girl who’s never even set foot on a college campus. Why should we trust you to save Hannah? Even Dr. Oracle’s own protégés can’t perform Golden Needle Channel Activation, and you claim you can? Hannah’s life is precious. If anything goes wrong under your care, who’s going to answer for that?”
Theodore had taken quite a liking to Caitlin.
Seeing Ann openly target her, Theodore immediately stepped in to defend her.
“Miss Templeton,” he said, voice steely, “Dr. Kensington is an honored guest of the Richards family. Not even we have doubted her for a moment. I’d advise you to watch your words.”
His last sentence landed with particular weight.
