The Deadly Assassin Robin (Tristan Storm) novel Chapter 1267

The meeting at the Decision Bureau stretched out for the entire afternoon.

It was determined that Jethro would take the role of chief diplomatic negotiator for the upcoming discussions regarding the South Panacea Ocean islands.

These talks weren't just about the settlement terms for the Dragon Manor massacre from 20 years ago.

They also involved the recent conflict with the Panacea Ocean Warriors Alliance, which had united several nations to seize control of islands in the eastern waters.

When the meeting concluded, Declan asked Jethro to stay behind.

"Jethro, this negotiation is unlike any other," Declan remarked.

"With Robin involved, the process and outcome are bound to leave a mark on the world."

Jethro chuckled. "Mr. Pittman, I'm just here to enjoy the thrill of this negotiation, especially with Master Ramsey in the mix!

"Spending all these years at the Foreign Affairs Bureau hasn't been easy.

"They say that weak nations can't engage in diplomacy.

"But we, equipped with power and a strong nation, still swallow our pride when it comes to essential issues.

"They say it's all for the sake of the country's dignity.

"I've never quite understood why so many of our colleagues are so eager for these gentle approaches.

"Take issues of surrounding islands or border disputes—why even bother negotiating these clear-cut matters?

"Then, we end up with a new wave of hotheads, always arguing, condemning, and protesting.

"They stand under the global media spotlight, brimming with passion, indignation, and righteous anger, as if shouting could fix everything.

"After the dramatic display, nothing changes. The other side gets away with it all, while we toast as though we've won some grand victory.

"Then, the very next day, it's the same complaints again.

"No resolution, just more shouting. Day after day, year after year, until it turns into nothing more than a bitter joke.

"That's why, for all these years, I've never understood why we care so much about getting others to acknowledge our issues before we feel any sense of validation.

"Like when people say, ‘This is our land, and so-and-so supports it.'

"If it's ours, then it's ours! Whether others recognize it or not doesn't matter! They're not our parents!

"Every time I see this, it drives me crazy.

"Why do these fools have such a twisted mindset?

"Do they actually enjoy this constant bowing and scraping, begging for respect?"

Declan gave a bitter smile. "Jethro, you're not alone in this frustration. Many others feel the same way.

"‘Weak nations can't engage in diplomacy'—it's not about lacking power, but about lacking backbone!

"The ones pushing for tolerance and friendly exchanges aren't doing so out of some admiration for submission."

"They're doing it because they're not serving the country or its people's dignity—they're serving their own selfish desires.

"Take Hadley, for example—when his term ended, it was revealed he had accepted bribes worth trillions of dollars.

"His personal wealth and assets are scattered across various countries.

"He has eight lovers living abroad.

"His 13 children are scattered overseas—either studying or doing business, living luxurious lives.

"That's why these people clamor for this so-called compassion and diplomacy. They want to protect their own fortunes and interests."

Jethro stared into the distance for a long time before offering a bitter smile. "If we don't deal with this now, everything here will end up being a feast for those treacherous wolves.

"Enough with this talk! The more I speak, the more it feels like dreams shattering into despair!"
