The Deadly Assassin Robin (Tristan Storm) novel Chapter 1437

"Mr. Ramsey, let me handle this," Pierre said, stepping forward.

As he looked at Robin and his two adorable children, the cold expression on Pierre's face suddenly softened.

The feared and merciless Divine Drakebane, now sitting beside two chubby, pink-cheeked little ones. It was an image that could melt even the iciest hearts.

Robin waved him off. "I'm the owner of Qacalisle Island. How could I stand by while the islanders are being oppressed and exploited?

"If the chief manager is incompetent, then we'll replace her with someone who actually serves the people's interests.

"If it's corruption and abuse of power that's the cause, then we get rid of her!

"Qacalisle Island belongs to its people, not to some privileged family.

"The chief manager's team is supposed to serve the islanders, not prey on them.

"If things have gotten that twisted, then the whole leadership deserves to be stripped of their power and punished to the full extent of the law.

"Taking advantage of the one who trusted you, then stabbing them in the back? Unthinkable!

"It's vile. Shameless. Absolutely despicable!"

"Daddy, did I do something wrong?" Carrie leaned against Robin's arm, her big round eyes glimmering like black grapes. "I don't want Daddy to be mad."

The fury drained from Robin's eyes. He ran a hand through her soft hair. "Carrie, you're everything to me. There's no way I could be mad."

"Yay! If Daddy's not mad, then I'm happy!" Carrie beamed. Drool was already slipping from the corner of her mouth. "Daddy, you said the lasagna was yummy, right?"

Seeing her so innocent and pure, Pierre couldn't help but chuckle.

All of the little girl's thoughts were written clearly on her face.

Robin gently wiped away the drool from Carrie's mouth. "Come on, Daddy's taking you to eat Ambrose's famous lasagna. It's delicious."

"Yay! Lasagna!" Carrie's chubby cheeks lit up in pure joy.

"All you ever think about is eating, Carrie! No wonder your cheeks are so puffy," Jaron teased as he wiped her mouth, making a silly impression of their dad. "They say if you keep this up, you'll turn into a bouncing little bun!"

Carrie leaned over and whispered, "We agreed, no calling each other fat. Say it one more time, and I'll tell everyone who broke the scale last week."

Watching the two round-faced kids whispering to each other, Pierre couldn't hold it in any longer and burst into laughter.

The stifling tension from earlier vanished instantly.

Robin glanced lovingly at his adorable children and reached out to hold Shirley's hand. "Shirley, are you feeling any better?"

Shirley quickly pulled her hand back, her eyes wide with panic. "You. Are you really Robin?"

Robin held out his translucent, icy-cold hand. On his finger was the sparkling crystal ring, Eternal Love, gleaming right before her eyes.

Shirley stared in shock. Tears welled up and spilled down her cheeks without warning.

Robin gently took her slender hand. On her finger was the exact same ring, shining like a galaxy wrapped around her finger.

"Shirley, it's me. I never left you.

"I made you a promise, and I never break my word."

Tears blurred her vision as Shirley gripped Robin's hand tightly, her fingers tracing over the rings, symbols of a vow that transcended lifetimes.

Robin froze in awe.

He could clearly see that the dazed look in Shirley's eyes had given way to a spark of soulful clarity.

"Shirley, are you back?"

She nestled into his embrace. "Robin, what happened to me? I've been looking for you for so long. Where did you go?"
