Chapter 445 

Arnold scooped up his son, presenting him with a present. 

Jolin quickly dashed out from the kitchen, there seemed to be too many “sons–in–law” today. 

Avery cracked a strange smile. His mom was sighing just this morning, lamenting the absence of a son–in–law to celebrate the Christmas with. And now, three had shown up all 

at once. 

Elvis stood up, moving closer to Aurelia as if claiming his dominion, announcing that Aurelia was now his. 

A shadow of menace flashed in Leopold’s eyes – his territory would not be breached so easily. 

Arnold felt a huge threat. If only that wretched Lisa would agree to divorce, he wouldn’t be in such a passive position, helplessly watching Aurelia being snatched away by another 

man. 

A potent scent of rivalry subtly pervaded the air. 

Jolin, keenly noticing the tension, hastily tried to ease the atmosphere. “Arnold, Leopold, I didn’t expect both of you to come today. I’m cooking right now. It’s Elvis‘ first time at our place, I want him to try some of my dishes.” 

She took Kane from Aurelia’s arms, putting him down. “Kane, take William upstairs to play. Grandpa will be back soon.” Zack had gone to the flower market with the Hawthorne family elders. 

Kane held William’s hand as they went upstairs. Instead of entering a room, they hid around the corner of the staircase to spy. 

“This Mr. Cooper might be mom’s new boyfriend, and he could end up being our stepfather,” whispered William. 

Kane’s small hand tightened its grip on the railing. “I don’t want a stepfather.” 

William pouted. “Neither do I, it’s all your dad’s fault. Your dad is Henry VIII.” 

Kane turned his head, giving him a puzzled look. “Who’s Henry VIII?” 

William didn’t know either. He’d heard it from his uncle. 

“You should Google it, I bet he’s a bad guy.” 

Kane took out his iPad and Googled it. In short, Henry VIII was synonymous with being a heartbreaker and changing wives. 

Did mom think the same? Kane felt a pang of sadness.

Downstairs. 

Jolin gestured for Aurelia and Elvis to sit on the couch, and invited Arnold and Leopold to take the seats on either side. 

Who was the current beau, and who were the exes? It was clear as day. 

Leopold’s fingers slowly clenched, as if a venomous green snake had slithered into his heart, coiling and baring its fangs, biting into his heart muscle. The sharp pain radiated from his chest like lightning, appearing and disappearing without a trace. 

Avery just had to give the final blow. 

He sauntered over with a stool, peeled an orange and handed it to Arnold. 

“Elvis, you must be familiar with Arnold, my bro, and Leopold, my sister’s ex–husband. Arnold is like family to us, my mom even considers him her godson. As for my sister’s ex, the only connection they have now is a professional one. Don’t worry, my sister knows how to let go, there will be no lingering attachments.” 

Elvis smiled slightly, “All I hope for is that Aurelia can move on from her past, and be happy and free from worries in the future. Nothing else matters.” 

“No matter what troubles Aurelia encounters, I’ll be there to solve them,” Arnold stated, confident that he was the only one who could truly connect with her. Elvis’ only advantage was his freedom from marital ties. 

Elvis just smiled and remained silent – he never cared for competition. 

They were all part of Aurelia’s past, only he was her present and future. 

Aurelia picked up a cupcake and offered it to Arnold. “Arno, try this cupcake made by my grandma, it’s shipped from Pebblebrook.” 

“Sure.” Arnold accepted. 

Aurelia then handed another piece to Elvis. “Elvis, you said it was delicious earlier, have another piece.” 

Elvis responded with an enchanting smile. He was pleasantly surprised by the change in how Aurelia addressed him.
