The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back (Thalassa and Kris) novel Chapter 218

Chapter 218
Kris trudged toward his car, numb. Reaching, he tossed the bag of evidence into the back seat, then slumped into the driver’s seat, gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. His hands trembled, his breaths shaky as he started the engine, staring blankly ahead. He felt sick to his stomach.

As he pulled out of the lot, the streets seemed to rush past him in a blur. His heartbeat pounded in his ears, each beat harder, faster. He could barely focus on the road, the suffocating weight of the truth pressing down on him.

The longer he drove, the worse it became. His chest tightened, and his vision blurred again. A loud horn honked as another driver sped by, jolting him back into focus.

By the time he reached the Miller mansion, his body felt like it was running on autopilot. As he entered the house, he could hear the low murmur of voices in the living room. His family was gathered there; Susan, Tyler, and aunt Cynthia. Karen was sitting with them.

As soon as Tyler saw him, he stormed towards him.

“Finally decided to show your face, huh? After having our mother locked up because of that whore Tha—”

Kris’s fist moved faster than he could think. It connected with Tyler’s mouth, the force of the punch almost sending him to the floor. Tyler stumbled, clutching his face in shock. Blood trickled down from his busted lip.

“You hit me?” Tyler gawked, his voice muffled by the pain. His eyes blazed with disbelief and anger.

Kris’s expression remained stone-cold. “Speak another word against Thalassa, and I’ll do it again.”

Tyler opened his mouth to retort, but the deadly dark aura surrounding Kris seemed to shut him up. He stepped back, the room falling silent as the tension escalated. Everyone was watching Kris, stunned by the coldness radiating off him.

Kris barely glanced at Tyler again before his eyes locked onto Karen. She had got up from the couch, stiffening when she saw the unyielding gaze he fixed on her.

“Kris… you came to see Tessa?” Karen’s voice wavered. “She’s upstairs… in her room.”

Kris didn’t respond. He walked slowly toward her, each step deliberate. When he reached her, he grabbed her by the shoulders.

“You’re one of the worst women I’ve ever met in my life!” he hissed, his voice trembling with rage as he shook Karen violently. “How could you be so cruel, so deceitful?”

Karen’s eyes widened in terror, her forced calm breaking. Her hands shot up to try and pull away from him, but his grip was too strong. “Kris, wait—”

“Shut up!”

Karen began to panic, her mind racing. Her mother told him. Despite the threats she made, her mother actually told Kris the truth. How could she do this?

“Kris, no… My mother is lying! She’s making all of this up because of Thalassa!”

Kris sneered, the disgust on his face deepening. “Your mother begged Thalassa to release you from jail. After everything your she did for you, you’re throwing her under the bus just like that?”

Karen winced as his grip on her shoulders tightened. “You’re hurting me,” she groaned, tears welling in her eyes.

“I’m not surprised.” His voice dripped with venom. “You don’t have a bone of loyalty in your body.”

“Kris, please!” Karen pleaded, her voice cracking as tears fell freely down her face. She looked around for help, but no one in the room dared to interfere. Only Aunt Cynthia stepped forward.

“No.” Karen said before quickly adding. “But I did it for us, Kris! Because I’ve always loved you, and because I knew that you and I were meant to be together.”

Kris’s grip tightened even more. “Do you even realize how sick you sound? How can you even try to justify lying to me about something like this for so long! You made me believe Tessa was my daughter!”

“But she is!” Karen croaked out desperately. “You’ve been with her and taken care of her since she was born. She loves you. She’s your daughter in every way that matters. What does it matter if she’s not your blood?”

Kris’s lip curled in disgust. The more he looked at or spoke to Karen, the more repulsed he felt by her.

“How can you be so cynical? How did I ever not see what kind of horrible person you really are?”

Karen face was now a complete mess with snort coming out her nose. “Please… forgive me.”

“Forgive you?” Kris’s voice was a low growl. “You’re delusional if you think I’ll ever forgive you for this. I detest you, Karen Blade. I curse the day I met you!”

With one final shove, Karen flew back and crashed onto the couch, sobbing uncontrollably.

Kris didn’t give her a second glance. He turned and stormed toward the stairs, his heart thundering in his chest.

it was time to see Tessa.
