The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back (Thalassa and Kris) novel Chapter 193

Chapter 193
“I wasn’t talking about a specific person,” Thalassa responded to Luisa's question. “I just mean… I’m not going to keep pushing men away like I’ve been doing for almost four years now. I want to give myself a chance to love again.”

Luisa bit her lip. “What about Kris?” she asked tentatively.

Thalassa pursed her lips into a thin line. “Practically all of my adult life has revolved around Kris, Luisa. He was my first love, and I never allowed myself to look at anyone else, even when he was making me suffer. Even after we divorced, I kept every man at a distance because I was still so angry, so consumed with getting justice. And all of that—my anger, my pain—was still tied to him.”

She clenched her fist briefly around her fork before releasing it. “I’m tired of my life revolving around him.”

Luisa frowned and pointed out, “But… your life won’t stop revolving around him, Lassa. You two have a son together.”

She paused, hesitant to ask her next question. “Are you really planning to never tell Kris about Alex?”

Thalassa’s breath caught in her throat. She went quiet, her chest tightening as the weight of the question pressed down on her. The silence stretched, and she looked away.

The ringing of the doorbell broke the tension. Luisa stood up, shooting her a concerned look before heading for the door. Moments later, she returned with Rita Blade following behind her.

The moment Thalassa saw her, she stood up, a smile breaking through the tension. “Mum,” she said, her voice softening. She crossed the room and hugged the woman.

Rita held her tightly, then pulled back slightly to look at her. “How are you doing, darling?” she asked softly.

“I’m fine,” Thalassa replied quickly, offering a reassuring smile.

Rita shifted awkwardly before speaking again. “Forgive me, Lassa, for not coming to see you sooner after you had Karen released for my sake. It's just—” She sighed, glancing down briefly. “I always feel so ashamed every time I think of coming to see you because–”

“Let's not talk about that, mum.” Thalassa gently cut her off. “I'm happy to see you.”

Rita nodded but still seemed uncomfortable. “Would you like to join us for breakfast?” Thalassa offered, gesturing toward the table.

Rita shook her head, smiling gratefully. “Thank you, but no. I just came to see how you were doing. You should go ahead and eat.”

Nodding, Thalassa went to sit back down at the table, watching as Rita settled into a chair across from her.

“Hello Luisa." Rita greeted, offering her a warm smile. Luisa smiled in return.

“I was actually thinking about going to your office,” Rita continued, “but I decided to come here instead.”

Thalassa nodded. “I’m not planning to go to the office today. I know the press will be swarming the building, waiting for me to comment on the news about Linda, but I don’t plan to say anything.”

“No,” Thalassa cut in quickly. “You don’t have to go. I trust you.”

Rita hesitated but then sat back down as Thalassa turned to the lawyer. “Can you wait in the living room for a few minutes? I’ll finish up here and join you shortly.”

The lawyer nodded and made his way to the living room. After forcing herself to finish her half eaten breakfast, she helped clear the table with Luisa before they joined the lawyer in the living room, including Rita.

“Were you able to review the evidence Kris submitted last night to the police against Linda?”

The lawyer nodded. “I did.”

Luisa leaned forward. “Tell me it's enough to keep Linda locked up.”

The lawyer twisted his lips in thought. “The evidence is solid, but I'm afraid it's not strong enough on its own. The only thing it does is show that Linda was indeed acquainted with the man who attacked Thalassa.”

Thalassa’s heart sank, her eyes narrowed.

“What does that mean? Are you saying that Linda is going to be released?”
