"You're welcome," Miles replied politely.
Velotra had come at them aggressively and seemed to possess a substantial amount of evidence. Both the Lockets and Shaws, as well as Miles and Beck, knew this would be a difficult lawsuit to win.
However, once the trial officially began, the expressions on the faces of the Lockets and Shaws grew increasingly grim. Even Miles and Beck frowned.
Velotra's evidence was solid. The contracts, transaction records, chat logs, and expert assessment reports were all thoroughly documented. As for the 2.5 billion dollars in compensation Velotra was demanding, they had initially assumed the company was simply asking for an outrageous amount.
In reality, Velotra had already been doing well over the past two years. On top of that, its collaboration with YodaVision over the past year had further strengthened its competitiveness in the market.
The technology they had allegedly infringed upon was also one of the core components of their hundred-billion-dollar project. In that light, the 2.5 billion dollar claim wasn't an unreasonable demand after all.
After going through the entire proceedings, Wynn, Miles and Beck all realised that Velotra had waited until it had made absolutely thorough preparations before filing the lawsuit.
With such a comprehensive body of evidence, even though the verdict wouldn't be delivered immediately, the Lockets and Shaws could already practically foresee the outcome.
When the hearing ended and they left the courtroom, the Lockets and Shaws looked utterly defeated. Miles and Beck noticed but said nothing about it.
Instead, Miles simply said, "It's getting late. I've arranged for a restaurant. Let's get something to eat first."
Wynn looked equally troubled, but she tried her best to maintain a composed expression. "Thank you. You really didn't have to go to so much trouble."
Just as she finished speaking, her phone rang.
It was Hollis, one of the people who had contacted her a few days earlier. "Regarding our collaboration, I'm afraid we'll have to put it on hold for now."
Wynn understood immediately. They must have heard rumors about the likely outcome of the lawsuit and concluded that the Locket family would lose.
To pay the compensation, both Locket Tech and InnovaTech might end up being auctioned off. As a result, the partnership they had only recently agreed upon would fall through.
One company pulling out was bad enough. But then another did the same.
Not long after she ended the call, someone else phoned to say that their collaboration would also have to be put on hold.
