"That's okay, I'm used to it, and it isn't that far." I said with a smile.
Krystal walked me to the front door and stood outside with me for a moment.
"When will I see you again?" She asked looking up to me with those forest green eyes.
"You'll see me when you always see me, at night, in the morning. Whenever you think of me, I'll be there." I replied.
Being near her was amazing. I leaned in closer wrapping my arms around her waist, and breathing her scent in deeply.
I wanted to lean even closer and close the distance between our lips, which were so close I could feel the electric coming off of them and pulling me closer.
But I didn't want to move to fast, or scare her away.
"No. I mean you!" She whined. She sighed, but then started her next sentnce a little softer, "I love your wolf, but it's not the same. I can't get as close. This feeling is even better than getting to be near your wolf every night. I want to be able to feel this." She told me as she wound her hands up my arms and shoulders, and then circled closer to my heart, right where the V neck to my shirt left an opening at my chest.
Her hands on my skin felt like fire, warming the ice that plagued my body and soul.
"Soon. I promise." I breathed heavily, almost not being able to stand her closeness without acting like a total dweeb in front of her.
I closed my eyes trying to cool myself and my wolf down.
"I'll hold you to that." She said with a smile as she brought her hands up and twisted them around my neck. I opened my eyes and melted as I almost drowned in her beauty.
I noticed a leather chord hanging from her neck, partially hidden under her shirt.
I pulled the rest of the necklace free so I could have a better look.
On the cord hung a heart pendant carved from bone.
The one I had carved years ago.
That winter was a terrible winter for the pack. We lost 5 wolves due to starvation and infection.
She saved us.
That night she brought me over 20 steaks and different assortments of meats.
It was the first time I had food in over a month.
The pack had been slowly dying, and I was going mad with starvation.
She saved me that night.
I had lost all hope, thinking this would be our last winter.
I wanted to show her how much she meant to me, so I carved a crooked heart shape out of one of the left over bones from the meat she brought me.
"You kept it, after all these years. You still have it?" I asked softly.
And I would never let anything happen to her. I'd die protecting her if I had to.
I hated myself for it, but I knew I had to go talk to the pack.
I slowly pulled myself back a few inches, which caused a sound of disapproval to come from Krystal.
He cheeks were flushed a bright pink, and her lips were swollen with the heated kisses we just shared.
"I'm sorry. I have to go to my pack. We need to plan our next move. Please be careful around him, I don't know what he's planning. And I'd never be able to live if something ever happened to you." I held onto her tiny hands and squeezed lightly.
"Are you going to kill him?" She questioned.
"I don't know. I don't want to, but if he leaves me no choice..." I trailed off not wanting to think about having to kill him.
I may not like him, but that doesn't mean I want him dead.
"I hope it doesn't come to that." She said looking up at me.
"Me too." I replied as I bent down to kiss her one last time.
I only lightly brushed my lips against hers before I walked into the woods to let my wolf break free.
I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to hold myself up as I walked back into my house.
