My mind continued to think about what happened at James's place, but I had work to do and I needed to invest all my time in that. I noticed that Nick had been doing the same from the posts on his Instagram.
I walked into my mom's place to find her wrapped in a blanket whilst dad was busy in the kitchen.
"Hello darling," mom said pausing the show she was watching and looking at me. she looked well but I knew she was in pain she had texted me this morning about it.
"is that you Selly" dad called from the kitchen. He peered around the corner and smiled. I dont think I'm ever going to get used to seeing him around doing chores, cooking cleaning or just simply watching football on Sunday afternoons.
"yes, dad "I shout.
He wastes no time in walking towards me wrapping his strong arms around me. "about time you came over" he said placing a kiss on my forehead.
I do feel bad for not coming to see my parents sooner, but I've been busy and luckily, I found some time today.
"I know dad, I'm sorry how about we go out to eat tonight just the three of us," said looking at them both. I knew the perfect restaurant for dad, and I know he deserved it.
Mum was first to agree. "are you okay, "he said looking at mum, but she just nodded. "I'm okay honey I want to go out"
I turned to dad. "okay but as soon as you feel bad, I'm driving you home" he says sitting down next to mom. I knew that leaving mom in his hands which bring me peace. I'm not sure what dad plans to do now but ill make it my mission to financially support this family in the meantime.
I turned around to leave but dads voice stopped me.
"so, when are you going to talk to me about this boy I keep hearing about" just when I thought I could get away with it.
I didn't even look at him, I gave mom the harshest glare I could manage to which she just smiled that sickly sweet smile.
Play it off.
"boy, no boys in my life paps," I said playing innocent like the innocent princess I am.
But it wasn't surprising that dad wasn't taking any of it. If she thinks I'm getting her a new Louis Vuitton bag for mothers' days she can think again.
"Liar" my mom practically yelled. To which I replied "grasser" yes, I know it was childish, but I hated talking about boys especially with my father.
"girls" he warned us.
I reluctantly sat on the opposite sofa. "it's the guy from the crash, isn't it. I should've known he was the only person you would speak to in your shaken state well except your father of course" shit I forgot about that.
"were friends" I tried to defend myself. Mom scoffed in her seat finding her nails to be far more interesting.
Now, dad was smirking. "you sound like your mother after our third date" he mumbled getting up from his space on the sofa.
"Hey!" mom exclaimed slapping him on the arm.
Not so fun is it.
"I don't mind it Selena just promise me you'll be careful, "he said bending down and lifting up chin.
Be careful, he really isn't someone I feel threatened by.
"yes, dad," I said smiling up at him, my caring, protective father.
After that intense moment, I said goodbye to my parents and gave them the address of the restaurant for tonight. I needed to be at work by 4 for a meeting with Jake.
As soon as I entered the building Jake was already standing before a few employees in the meeting room. I slipped inside and took a seat to his right.
"we've got three weeks until the launch, so I need everyone doing double time this week I want everything perfect. No drama no mistakes nothing negative" Jake said ordering us all like a bunch of slaves.
This man's got to get laid soon. Way too cranky.
"Jen I need you to confirm with the caterer for this event," he said singling out our event manager.
"already done "she replied to him, confident as ever. I swear if it was anyone else but Jen with that role we would be screwed. Jen is not one to be messed with.
She used to be a wedding planner and she even said, and I quote that Jake is 10 times worse than any bridezilla ever. Which says something.
I grabbed Jake's coat and keys shoving them to his chest" now take these, go home and get ready before you 're late" I said to him to which he just glared at me.
"yeah yeah, you hate me I'm a bitch keep it coming," I said as I followed him out to the entrance of the building.
Jen couldn't control her laughter as this was happening.
I made sure to lock up his office before leaving. Some of the others were staying late to get some more work done before the weekend so they would lock up after.
I drove home and immediately jumped in the shower to get ready for tonight. I decided on a simple outfit but with my black heeled boots just to make my mother happy.
I wore the necklace my dad had gifted me when I was 18.
I drove to the restaurant and arrived just in time.
"table for 3 under Selene," I said to the guy up front. He checked his iPad for the reservation.
He suddenly looked very confused. What was so confusing about a simple dinner reservation.
"something wrong," I asked him. He was young so I guess I could excuse him.
"not really, it's just that the table here says 4, another person was added 10 minutes ago," he told me.
He's definitely wrong about that one.
"can you check again, you know what just take me to the table," I said becoming irritated.
He smiled at me before leading the way further into the restaurant. He stopped before a table in the far corner and I immediately located the unexpected and uninvited guest sitting t the table opposite my parents.
"Nick? what are you doing here" I said staring at the devilishly handsome man sitting with my parents who couldn't even be bothered to hide the smirks on their faces.
Honestly, why?
