The Billion Dollar Contract novel Chapter 19

Nicole ran into her bedroom, she slumped on the bed crying, this was a mistake, she never should have agreed to such an offer, she thought to herself making her cry even harder. She thought he was different, she was beginning to see some kindness in him but she was wrong. After everything she had tried to make him warm up to her and even with the way she cared for him during his illness, he still didn't see her as a friend. How could she be so stupid to develop strong feelings for him? How was she going to get him off her mind now? She needs to get over him, she thought to herself after she was done crying her eyes out.

Nicole stood up from the bed and went into the bathroom to wash away the tears from her face. After that she went downstairs and asked one of the maids to tell her chauffeur to get a car ready for her. She had already decided against taking anything with her because Gabriel's money had bought them so they all belonged to him and she didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore, so she left in just the white off shoulder crop top, denim pants and wedge shoes she had on

Gabriel couldn't believe what he just did, Nicole was only trying to help yet he had lashed out all of his frustration on her by letting his insecurities about himself and the feelings he was starting to develop for her get the best of him. He didn't know how to react to what he was feeling, he felt he wasn't good enough and was going to make the same mistake he had in his previous relationship. How was he going to mend this? How was he going to apologise to Nicole whom he was certain wouldn't listen to whatever he would have to say?

He sat in his study thinking of ways to apologise to Nicole when he realized the statement she had made earlier about leaving, was she serious?

He left his study in a hurry to go look for Nicole in her bedroom and apologise for his behavior earlier. He got there but was greeted by an empty room, he hurried downstairs and asked his house administrator about Nicole's whereabout, he was told that she had asked Darren her chauffeur to take her out but she didn't say where.

Gabriel knew in that moment that Nicole had left like she had said earlier, he went back into his study and angrily turned over his desk, with a sweep of his hand, he sent all the glasses in his study crashing to the floor, he was shaking in rage. After thirty minutes of expressing his current state of feeling, he looked around his study and noticed the mess he had made which suddenly made him weak.

Gabriel then realized how right Nicole was when she told him that he hadn't fully recovered, him standing here and staring at his study made him feel like a total failure. Just then he realized how lonely he was, he hadn't realized it all these years until he met Nicole, she made him realize how important it was to have a companion in one's life. He looked at his study one last time without any regret of what he had done and walked out of the room.

She didn't feel like going out because she wanted to be alone in order to get herself together but it wasn't working because all her thoughts kept going back to Gabriel, she kept on wondering if he was still taking his medication or if he was now feeling better. Each time she kept thinking about him, she couldn't help but remember the harsh words he had said to her, she didn't understand why he was so angry that day. Nicole couldn't help but wonder if his anger was caused by her, maybe she was being overdramatic about his health, she only did that because she cared about him. No, it was because she loved him and wanted him back to being himself so she could talk to him and spend time with him like she used to. Or maybe that was his way of telling her that her time at his mansion was up, if that were the case then it actually worked but he could have just calmly told her to leave and she would have understood because they were together only on the basis of a contract. She would have peacefully left even though she would feel hurt

"You need to get yourself together Nicole" she whispered to herself

She needed to get a job because thinking about Gabriel was doing her no good, it only gave her a headache. Nicole decided to stop thinking and act because thinking wasn't going to get her a job, she was already running out of supplies so she needed to act fast. She got out of bed and went into her kitchen to get her first aid kit, she took some painkillers and headed for the bathroom to shower.
