And ten minutes later, the bell rings and Tiana is howling her dominance over her uncle.
It’s a great morning and our group is full of excitement as we go into the afternoon classes.
That night, while Tiana goes for tutoring with Cassic, I sit in my room and do homework.
I’m surprised when there’s a knock later that night. When I open the door, Tiana is standing there with an insulated backpack in her hands.
“So, in the spirit of S and T 2.0,” she begins making me grin, “I thought we could celebrate our victories on The Beast tonight.”
She pulls a bottle of champagne from the backpack along with two plastic cups. “And, since you asked me out on our first date last time, I thought I’d be the first to ask you on a date this time.”
“What did you have in mind?” I ask, grinning.
She looks at me and something serious and vulnerable crosses her face. “Do you trust me?” she asks softly.
I nod. “I trust you.”
She smiles. “Then come with me.”
I close my door, taking the backpack and her hand as she leads me out of the dorms and into the nearby forest where we can run our wolves. We don’t have a lot of time for that, but on the weekends, you can find almost everyone out here at least once letting their wolves stretch their legs.
We walk in companionable silence until she leads me into an opening that looks out over the Academy. From here, you can see the lights of the buildings twinkling in the night, but the most amazing thing is the moon. It’s full tonight and it’s rising over the Academy in a gorgeous display.
“Wow!” I say.
“Not bad, huh? Dane told me about this place, and I wanted to share it with you,” she says.
We sit, popping the champagne and pouring two glasses.

“To defeating The Beast,” she says.
“To defeating The Beast,” I say, touching glasses and taking a sip of champagne. “Not bad,” I say.
“Good, because that’s the only kind they have in the kitchen,” she says, laughing.
I hold my glass up again. “To Shane and Tiana, 2.0,” I say.
She grins, repeating my words before we drink again.
She sighs, looking up at the moon before looking at me again.
“It feels different this time, doesn’t it?” she asks softly.
“We’re different this time. We’re not the same people we were nearly two years ago.”
“No, we’re not.”
She leans her head on my shoulder, and I wrap an arm around her, laying my check on top of her head as we stare at the moon.
“Sooo, how are you feeling about the sex class this week?” she asks, looking up at me.
“I’m planning to attend, you?” I ask her.
She nods. “Is it weird that it feels like we’re starting over? I feel almost nervous about touching you tomorrow night.”
“No. I think we’re doing it right this time. I think we’re letting the relationship run its course naturally instead of having a purpose or a reason behind it.
“What do you mean?” she asks, sitting up.
”
“Well, last time, we became intimate because neither of us wanted to come to the Academy as virgins. That was the reason we became intimate. I mean, yeah, I liked you. A lot. And you’re smokin‘ hot, so I had no problem being with you. But we didn’t really let things progress on their own, did we? We just kind of pushed through in the beginning and it almost blew up in our faces.”
