Chapter 60
“But don’t do it for them, T. Do it for yourself. Do it because it’s what YOU want. Your family does and will continue to love you for who you are. You need to think about what you want and go from there.”
I hold her gaze until Alpha Ryan steps forward.
“Well done, Alpha Shane. Alpha Sebastiana, any feedback?”
She shakes her head, no: “Thanks, Shane.”
I stand and pull her to her feet, wrapping my arms around her. She leans into me, holding me tightly. We stand there even after Alpha Ryan calls the end of class. We stand there as everyone files out of the classroom.
When I feel her sigh and step back, I let her go. Alpha Ryan is still standing there.
“He’s right, you know?” Ryan says softly.
Tiana shrugs.
“So, what’s it going to be, Sebi? Whiskey or fists? It’s time for you and I to resolve our differences,” he says.
She looks at him, looking exhausted. “I’m tired of fighting, Ry.”
“Whiskey it is,” he says and opens his arms to her.
This time, she walks into them, letting her brother hold her.
“Thank you,’ he mouths to me. I nod and walk outside, giving them a
moment.
When she comes out, I extend my hand and she takes it.
She’s quiet as we walk and I leave her to her thoughts. We’re almost back when she stops. “Is that really how you see me, Shane? All those things you said in there?”
“I meant every one of them, T. Every. Single. One.”
“Thanks again, Shane.”
I wrap my arm around her shoulder and pull her to me, kissing the top of her head as we begin walking again.
“I’m here, anytime you need to talk, T.”
She hugs me tightly. “I’m so glad you are.”
Sebastiana
Ryan arrived that night, after my tutoring with Cassie.
“You still prefer whiskey to fists?” he asks when I open the door.
I nod my head and smile, stepping back.
“Thank the goddess. I’m not sure I could have taken the beating Dane took. You know he was limping the rest of the day?” he asks as he walks in, looking for a place to set the whiskey.
I point to my desk and close the door.
“You know I was too?” I ask.
“Yeah, but he’s old enough to be your father. It’s harder when you get older to rebound from a beating like that,” he says, pouring two glasses, one already filled with ice for me. When he turns, he hands me the glass.
We clink glasses and sip, then he looks at me.
