“Alpha Shane, which instructor do you challenge?”
“Alpha Ryan.”
“Finally! Geez. I was beginning to think I had some sort of bad reputation around here,” Ryan says, making me laugh.
When they get lined up, Dane calls for them to go. I watch as both men expertly work their way up the ladder of the first challenge before racing into the belly of the Beast. I close my eyes, listening to Shane as he runs through the second obstacle and stops at the third.
“Come on, Shane,” I whisper.
When he rushes across, I fist pump the air. “Yes!”
Then I listen in again as he carefully waits for the wrecking bar, then runs across the platform in level four.
“Well done, Shane,” I whisper.
“He’s at level four?” Cassandra asks me.
“He’s at level five now.” Since I have no idea what level five is, I listen, trying to hear it.
A moment later I hear a whoosh, then a yelp before I see Shane blown off The Beast with his clothes on fire.
“Holy shit! Level five is fire?” Cole asks.
I rush over to Shane, along with Dane.
“Shane? You okay?” Dane asks when we get to him, helping him to pat the fire out on his clothing.
The right side of his body is covered in blisters and is a very dark shade of red.
“That sucked,” he groans.
Ryan drops off The Beast and comes over. “I’ll take him.‘
“I’m fine.” Shane says.
“Shane, you look like half your body was boiled in oil,” I tell him.
He looks at his arm as if just realizing that his body is covered in blisters.
“Do I still have my hair?” he asks, reaching up to touch his head.

“It’s a little singed but it’s still there,” I tell him. I crouch in front of him. “You did great. I can’t wait to see Nicholas try to get through there. What’s the bet that he loses his hair?”
Shane chuckles. “Oh, he will. For sure.”
Ryan looks over Shane’s head at me, winking at me for helping Shane feel better about how far he got, then he carefully puts an arm around his waist and helps him up.
“Let’s go, young Alpha.”
“Back to class, Sebi,” Dane says.
“If you aren’t back by lunch, I’ll come see you,” I say to Shane.
“Was there always a fire feature on The Beast?” Shane asks Ryan as they head to the medical
center.
“This one is WAY worse than the one I dealt with. I got singed too, just not as badly as you did,” I hear him say as they walk off.
“Come on. I’m putting you with Cassandra today,” Dane says. Cassandra wasn’t going to take the Warrior classes, so she’s probably the least trained of all the students in class.
“Dane,” I whine.
“You’re lucky I’m not sending you to the medical center with Shane, Sebi. Take it or leave it. If you were completely healed, you’d be able to ride The Beast. You know it and I know it.”
“Fine!” I huff.
“Fine,” Dane says, mimicking me.
“You’re lucky you’re my favorite uncle,” I say under my breath.
“I’m you’re only uncle,” he says, shaking his head.
“You’re still my favorite,” I say, smiling at him.
He shakes his head again, but grins as we walk back to the group.
“Who’s next on the Beast?” he calls out.

Shane comes back just before lunch. The right side of his body, what I can see of it, is smothered in something that smells awful, but according to Shane feels incredible on the burns.
“It’s like having a full–body ice pack,” he says as we eat.
Since I missed the first afternoon of classes, having been in the medical center, today is the first day for some of my classes, including Alpha Ezra’s finance class. I am dreading this class. I HATE dealing with numbers.
I haven’t had a lot of time to catch up with what I missed, so when I sit in Alpha Ezra’s class, I feel like he’s speaking another language. I mean, I understand the words individually, but when he puts them in a sentence, they make no sense to me.
By the time we leave his class, I have a headache. Thankfully, Pack Management is much easier thanks to Enya and the six months I helped Shane with his pack.
When dinner rolls around, I’m feeling exhausted and I’m glad that it’s my turn to be a partner in the sex class. I’m surprised to see that the blisters on Shane’s body are gone. His skin is still an angry red, but his burns are healing much faster than I expected.
“Are you going to be able to participate in class tonight?” I ask him.
He gives me his sexy Shane grin.
“Are you kidding me? I wouldn’t miss it.”
I have the distinct feeling that Shane is going to tease me during class and if he’s feeling up to it, we already talked about spending the night together.
As I watch his eyes darken, I know that’s EXACTLY what Shane is planning.
“I can’t wait,” I say, meaning more than just being his partner in class.
