When the morning came, it came with a reality check. Feeling the warmth of the sun on her face, Ella woke up with a sigh and looked her surrounding. Clearly she was not in her room, her bedroom did not have a balcony nor a tall, ceiling to floor, window. And one hand two inches below her left breast reminded her of what had occurred last night. Her eyes shifted to the clock on the nightstand. It was eight in the morning. Carefully she slid her body out of his embrace, making sure she did not accidentally wake him up, then started to get dressed.

Since obviously she had come with only a coat, panties, and silver pumps, she took a liberty to grab one T-shirt out of his drawer before she tip toed herself all the way across his bedroom towards the door. She gave him one last look over her shoulder, watching him still deep in his sleep with one arm on top of the silky bed cover, before taking off.

It was hard to find a cab around so she walked on her feet to the main road. When she finally caught one, she quickly informed her address to the driver and soon she was already on her way home. Thankfully she had taken two ten dollars from Javier's wallet and stucked them into her pocket before she left.

Once she paid the taxi, she got out of the cab and walked into her building. Glancing down the hallway, she was glad that the doors were all still closed and Damon was not on his door so she quickly went for her door and unlocked it.

However right before she closed her door, she heard his voice, "You do not have to sneak in, you know. I am your friend. Not your mother."

"I know and I am not sneaking or anything," replied Ella as she leaned against her door.

"Whatever you say, Ella Darling."

She let out a sigh as she walked her way to the bathroom. A long bubbly, relaxing bath was all she craved for right now, more than anything else. She slipped into the scented bath. As she leaned her head back against the edge of the tub, warmth enveloped her, and she closed her eyes. A small smile crept into her lips as the events of last night raced through her mind. Four times. They had had sex for four times. It had been as if they could not get enough of each other. It had been like a dream.

The smile slowly disappeared. Monday morning had come. They would be back at the office and she had to pretend that nothing had happened. What else could she possibly do? It was clear that he would never love her and he had said it last night about forgetting what happened. It would not be easy but it would be for the best. They had had enough. Four had to be enough. Now they could simply move on.

Javier awoke by the buzz of his phone. His left hand moved across the mattress and when he could not feel her naked skin, his eyes flung open and he sat upright on his king size bed. She was nowhere to be found. “Ella?” He called her, half hoping that she was in the bathroom or perhaps cooking breakfast downstairs. Still, there was no reply. No sound except for his phone buzzing. In annoyance, he grabbed his phone and answered the call. “Yes?”

“Heya, Uncle J!” greeted Autumn Summers, Thornton’s daughter. “Did I wake you up?”

“It is fine.” He let out a sigh and rubbed his face with his free hand. “What is it, Autumn? Do you need anything?”

“Um, well. Me and Tyler took my dad’s Bentley and we sorta, um, got into an accident,” explained her nervously then she quickly added, “A minor accident!”

“Okay. So what do you want me to do? Let me guess, you want me to help get it fixed before Tony finds out?” Javier stretched his body then swung his legs over the side of the bed, planted his feet on the marbled floor, and got up.

“You read my mind, Uncle J.”

Javier let out a chuckle. Even though he did not necessarily like children, he got along with his nephews and nieces. Perhaps because for them, he was the ‘Fun Uncle J’, someone they could rely on. “Okay. I will ask my driver to get it. Could you text me the address or share the location?”

“I am gonna send it to you right now. Thank you so much, Uncle J! You are the best!”

“Anytime, kiddo.” He ended the call and tossed his phone on the bed. A thought slipped through his mind and he quickly took the phone and put it on the nightstand then he lifted the bed cover. There was nothing on the mattress. He shook the bed cover and nothing dropped. He dropped the bed cover on top of his bed and sighed. “This is silly.”

He thought there would be something that she accidentally had left behind. Something he could then return to her this morning, or something he would keep as a token, a proof that last night was real. Yet there was nothing. He looked about his room, everything was normal. There was no trace of her and out of the blue, his heart felt empty. He felt something was missing but he was not sure what it was.

Shaking his head, he went to his bathroom. Twenty minutes later he was already on his way to his office. With a spring in his step, a smile hovering on his lips, and a lively sense of anticipation tingling through the rest of him, he opened the door to his secretary’s office, fully expecting to find Ella on her desk with a smile on her face.

It was instantly deflating to see her fully focusing on her monitor and when she finally noticed his presence, her gaze lifted to meet his and a polite smile curved her lips. “Good morning, Sir.” She stood and grabbed her iPad. “Shall we run today’s agenda?”

He gave her a brief nod. “Yes. Though first thing first, ask Pedro to pick up Tony’s Bentley and get it fixed at Rousseau’s. Tell Richard Rousseau that I want it done by this afternoon.” He turned around and walked back to his office. His hand went to his pocket and he pulled out his phone.

“Where should Pedro pick it up? Is it at Mr. Thornton’s office?” she asked efficiently.

Javier shook his head, shaking away the idea of asking her out for lunch and at the same time giving her the answer to her question. “No. Tony could never know about this.” He sat on his usual leather chair and leaned back. “It’s for Autumn. I just sent you the address. Don’t forget what I said. It should look as if nothing happened by this afternoon.”

“Certainly, Sir. I have forwarded the location to Pedro along with your request.”

His jaw tightened. “Excellent.”

It had been two weeks of the whole ‘forgetting what had happened that weekend’ and to put it simply, Javier had grown tired of it. Not only tired, he had been frustrated too. He had been fantasizing about Ella whenever he had gone to his bedroom. The memory of that night was still clear in his mind as if it had happened yesterday. He saw her on his bed, against the wall, in his jacuzzi, everywhere. It had been so much that last night he had gone to one of the hotels owned by the Summers and gotten himself a suite. He had thought that perhaps a change of scenery would sweep away all of this madness. Yet it had not worked. He had woken up in the middle of the night with a painful hard on.

This morning, he decided that he had enough. He had to have her back. He simply had to. He would date her if that was what she wanted. He had never been a romantic guy but hell, he would give it a solid try. At this point, there was so little that he would not do.

Around seven twenty five in the morning, he was already at the office before anyone else. He knew how Ella was, she had always come at the office five minutes before eight and would prepare all the needed documents for that day. She was that efficient and hard working. Furthermore, today they had a special agenda of interviewing her replacement. Surely she would come even earlier thus why he had bested her by thirty minutes.

“What do you mean?” She categorized the files based on its purpose then wrote a post it and placed it on top of each file.

“You know exactly what I mean, Miss Stanford.” Javier grew impatient. He knew it would not take long before he would lose control. “How did you pretend that the sex did not happen? Tell me.”

She let out a deep sigh then looked up to meet his eyes. “Simply by telling myself that this is for the best. We both wanted each other so bad and so we did what we did. Now that we had our fill, that we had enough of it, we could simply move on.”

“That sounds easy.”

“It is easy, Sir.” Ella gave him a small smile. “I see that you seem to have no trouble doing it as well.”

Javier lifted one brow and asked, “Is that how it looks?”

“Pardon?”

He walked around her desk. She gripped the back of her chair as though to stop herself retreating. The tension flowing from her was electric, pumping his excitement higher. She stood her ground, her nostrils flaring rebellion, eyes daring him to cross her space.

“I asked you if that is how it looks like. That I have no trouble pretending that it never happened.”

Suddenly Ella felt breathless. The tension between them and the heat radiating from his body did not help either. “Yes,” she answered, sounding like she was out of breath.

“How odd how look can be so deceiving.” He leaned forward, his hand captured her back. Not urging her to sway closer but simply holding her captive, within his arms reach.

“Sir.” She did not make the slightest move. It was as though she was holding her breath, she was so still. There was no horror in her eyes, more a mesmerised wonder, and the wild urges thrumming through Javier received a huge kick of encouragement. Was everything within her poised to feel the same sensations again?

“You did make it sound easy but there is one thing that you did not get right.” His voice sounded gentle but even Ella knew that there was something dangerous behind it. Something primal.

She swallowed hard then dared herself to ask, “And what is that?”

“It is not enough, Miss Stanford.” His gaze dropped to her mouth. Her lips were slightly parted, soft and red and glossy, as though moistened with the juice of berries. His arm moved instinctively, winding around her, pulling her close, pinning her to him. “Not for me.”

At last he dipped his head and tasted what had been driving her to near insanity. He plundered the sweetness within. No holding back.
