While Javier was putting his coat on, Ella helped Damon carry the dishes and placed them on the sink. Her best friend of ten years gave her a pointed look and said, "You." He nudged his arm with her elbow as he continued, "I do not need your help here, Darling, go and put on something pretty." He glanced at Javier who was tidying himself up by the coat hanger and added, "Maybe we can even hit the club. You could meet some handsome people the city could offer."

Javier gave no reaction at all. Clearly, he was not as childish as Damon wanted him to be.

"Okay. I will be read in a minute," answered Ella as she walked towards her bedroom. When she was strolling the living room, Javier called her. "Yeah?"

He came to her in three long strides then kissed her temple. "I am off for work." Then with a smile, he added, "Have fun shopping." Leaving her starstruck, he turned around and opened the front door before walking out and was off for work.

Damon's whistle was the only thing that had woken her up from her current moment of speechlessness. "Your man. I love Tanner forever but I wish he has some of Javier’s personality."

Not knowing how she should answer his question, she merely gave him a one shoulder shrug before heading to her bedroom. Once she closed the door behind her, she slowly approached the closet, not wanting to hurt her ankle more than she had already done last night. Along one wall, her clothes were categorized: office wear and daily wear while on the other side, men’s jeans, t-shirts, and some specially made suits hung on the rail with precision, organized by color, style, and season.

Ella's hand touched the fabric of each piece of clothing then it stopped. At the very back, there was a gorgeous floor length red gown with an exaggerated hem and sexy side slit. She pulled the dress out then held it up to her body, staring into the full length mirror. Something about this dress was familiar, it was as if her eyes were telling her that albeit this was not her first time seeing this dress, she knew that something monumental had happened the last time she had been wearing this dress.

That was when Damon knocked on the door and asked if she was alright.

“I am okay,” she answered then proceeded to inform him to enter.

Damon went inside and his eyes widened when his gaze fell to the red dress she was holding. "I was only joking when I said we are going to hit the club, by the way." Seeing the confused look on her face, he quickly added, "I mean, we could but not right now, not with your ankle and not with that dress. You are going to hurt yourself, Darling."

"No, Dee, I do not really want to go to the club. It is just that—" she paused to look down at the dress, a small frown emerged on her forehead. "There is something about this dress. I can not say what it was but I feel that something happened the last time I wore this dress." When her best friend did not immediately answer her, she let out a nervous giggle and said, "I know you must think that I am crazy because I do not usually wear a red dress let alone something with this hem and a side slit this high." She looked up and met Damon's teary eyes.

She bit her lips, her mind replayed what had happened the last few days with her and Javier. "Look, I watched hopes in his eyes turn to sorrow multiple times already. I did not want him to get his hopes up only for him to be let down once again. So please—" she begged, her eyes pleaded what her mouth was saying, "Please keep this between us, Dee. Unless I truly regained my memory then we could definitely tell him."

Damon smiled gently, understanding shone in his eyes. “For someone who screamed at him and accused him of many things a few days ago, you oddly seem to be concerned so much about him.”

Ella shrugged. “Perhaps there is a part of me that still remembers him and I hope one day, I will get all of my memories back.”

Damon hugged her. “I know, Ella, I hope for that too. We all do.”
