"You think Anya's not as capable as you, that she's no help to Leo at all, so you think she's not good enough for him?" Chunky asked.
"Without her, Leo would fly much higher," Alyna stated.
"I've told you more than once: without her, Leo wouldn't even have the courage to spread his wings!" Chunky replied firmly.
A cold sneer crossed Alyna's face. "Chunky, do you men just always have this need to protect weak, innocent, helpless women? Do you really think there are women out there that pure? It's all an act. Every day, all she does is spend Leo's money and whine his name in that sickly sweet voice. Someone as fake as her doesn't deserve him."
Chunky looked at Alyna, suddenly realizing the full extent of her delusions. "Alyna, let me tell you a secret. You already know Leo is the eldest grandson of the Cedillo family."
Alyna didn't deny it. Of course she knew. She had found out about the campus heartthrob's connection to the powerful Cedillo family back in undergrad. But what did that matter? She wasn't attracted to Leo because of his family background; she admired him. His talent and ambition were what drew her in.
Then, Chunky dropped the bomb. "And Anya is the heiress to the Calder Corporation."
Alyna stared at Chunky, completely stunned.
"Yes, the Calder Corporation in Willowtown. The same Calder Corporation that's ranked in the top fifteen on the global billionaire list," Chunky emphasized.
Alyna couldn't believe it. She was a billionaire heiress? Not some manipulative hypocrite playing the innocent victim?
