Leo cast a glance at Anya, wondering what exactly she meant by that.
"That one—no, the bigger one. The thick cut on the left. Yes, perfect!" Anya pointed eagerly at the display of fresh fish.
"Can you prep it for me?" she asked the fishmonger.
"Of course, miss. We always prep it however the customer likes," the man replied warmly.
Anya nodded. "Yes, please."
The fishmonger weighed the massive cut. "That'll be forty-five dollars."
Leo swiped his card while the man expertly deboned and sliced the fish.
On their way out, they passed through the floral section of the market. They walked in empty-handed, but by the time they left, Leo had two vendors following him to the car, loaded down with massive potted plants.
Anya skipped ahead happily. "The car's over here!"
Back at the apartment, Anya took over the kitchen to work her culinary magic while Leo wrestled with the plants in the bathroom. "Babe, how am I supposed to revive these flowers?"
Anya popped her head out of the kitchen. "Just fill a bucket halfway with water, trim the stems, and drop them in!"
Leo had already drenched the new greenery. He hauled the heavy pots out to the balcony.
Spring was here, and Anya had insisted that the apartment needed to feel just as vibrant and alive as the outdoors. "We have to bring the energy inside! We only get one spring a year."
Leo paused. That logic sounded perfectly fine on the surface, but when he actually thought about it... didn't every season only happen once a year?
As he carried the soaking pots across the apartment, a trail of muddy water dripped from the bathroom all the way to the balcony.
Sighing, he grabbed a mop and started cleaning up the mess.
"I'm making a ton of food! Should we invite Chunky over?" Anya called out from the kitchen.
"He's still grinding at the office. We'll pack him some leftovers for when he gets back."
"Okay!"
Leo's phone buzzed on the coffee table.
