Jamie had arrived in Havenbrook, and that evening, the four of them got together for dinner.
Jamie had gotten a perm over the holidays. It was her first time trying a new style, and while she liked it at home, she felt self-conscious sitting across from Denny, constantly worrying it didn't suit her.
Around the person she liked, her insecurities flared up.
Mia noticed immediately and offered a genuine compliment. "Jamie, your hair looks amazing! It really suits you."
Katie, whose own hair was casually twisted up with a claw clip, agreed. "Yeah, that style frames your face perfectly."
Jamie blushed. "You really think so? It damaged my hair a bit, though."
Denny turned to look at her hair. "Just get a few conditioning treatments. It looks good on you."
Jamie smiled, relieved. She had gained a little weight over the holidays, but felt much better now.
When they sat down, Mia and Katie automatically took one side of the booth, leaving Jamie to sit next to Denny.
Denny took charge of ordering. He was treating them tonight because he had made a significant profit off Janice's case, and the girls fully intended to make him pay for an expensive meal.
Remembering a recent Facebook post of Mia's, Jamie asked, "Mia, how is your father-in-law doing?"
"He's doing great. I took him for a checkup yesterday, and he's recovering perfectly. He's off the liquid diet and can finally start eating real food again."
Henry had been terrorizing his grandfather daily, and Mia had posted a photo complaining about how energetic her son was, wondering when preschool started. In the process, she had accidentally revealed that Hansen was unwell.
Michael had left a comment: "I don't know when preschool starts, but the amusement park is open all year round."
The conversation naturally shifted to Janice's lawsuit. Katie and Denny had plenty to discuss, dissecting the legal angles. Since Mia knew the full context, she chimed in, "The payout amount isn't even the main issue. The priority is making sure he never bothers Janice again."
Jamie just listened quietly, not chiming in.
