Mia pointed a finger at her son, who was safely barricaded behind the men. Henry tilted his head, his bright, clear eyes meeting his mother's through the gap between his godfathers.

"Just you wait. Unless you plan on following your godfathers home, you're going to get it."

Laurel came downstairs and saw Asher laughing heartily. He turned and noticed her. "Laurel, you're awake. Come watch my godson get scolded. We're heading home this afternoon."

He had indeed woken up that morning, found her sleeping in the chair, and carried her to bed.

Henry ran over to seek protection from his new godmother. Laurel barely had time to grasp his chubby little hand.

"Drop him, Laurel," Asher teased. "Turns out all that running around he did yesterday was to act as a little spy against you ladies."

She gave him one more light swat before pulling him up to sit properly on her lap.

Henry glared angrily at his father. "Hmph, I'm not on Dad's team anymore." His father hadn't even tried to save him.
